Katie's crush

Katie had spent around 3 months at Woodside now. She hung around with Natasha and her group of friends. By the second month at school Katie had learnt the various groups people. The Nerds.The Techs. The Creeps. The Soccer Team. The Hot and The Queen Bee's gang. The group she belonged to was called too many names. The names changed very often but the never really paid attention to what others said until she faced the "Queen Bee".

The "Queen Bee" was Alice Fletcher. Her father was a billionaire who had spoilt his daughter to bits. Her mom had no job except spending money on the stupidest of things. In short, her family was RICH and she.. well lets just say she was an arrogant woman who had way too much attitude. She moved about everywhere with her three so-called "best friends" and everyone knew them.

Katie was a straight-forward girl. She said exactly what she felt. And that was why she had to face the Queen Bee. Katie had been in school for a year and a half by now and she had major crush on a guy from the soccer team. Everytime she saw him the only thing she thought was confronting him. But she failed, everytime. One day, Natasha saw her staring at him during class. She was shocked. As soon as the bell rang, the class was dismissed and Natasha ran to Katie and dragged her to the girls' room.

"Why on earth were you staring at Kevin Adams?!"

"Well.. He's kinda cute and he is a nice guy. Don't you think? His voice so enthrauling, I could talk to him all day! He's ..."

Natasha interrupted, "Oh my God Katherine! You stand no chance. Don't even bother telling him. He's not a great guy. Plus he's ugly"

"No. Maybe but it doesn't matter. He's a nice person. I'll just talk to him as a friend. Nothing else!"

Katherine had a crush on him for a year. She never had the guts to speak to him. Natasha on the other hand knew Kevin for more than 3 years. She wasn't very fond of him but she didn't want to tell this to Katie. Time flew and Katie gained some courage and decided to talk to him.

After school got over, she walked up to Kevin. They stood on the side waiting for the bus to come. Katie was nervous but then she started, "Hey. I'm Katherine. We're in the same Math class."

"Oh yes. Hey", said Kevin.

The very fact that Kevin spoke to her, took her into a trance. But she snapped out of it realizing that he had said something.

"I heard you play the piano?" hesitated Katie.

"Oh yes. I do but I've been off lately. What about you? You play anything?"

They had a five minute conversation which seemed like hours for Katie. They spoke to each other and even exchanged numbers. Katie was overwhelmed by this. She went home with the brightest smile on her face. She hopped inside her house. "Evening Aunty Nancy. How you doing?"

Her aunt was surprised for Katie had never spoken to her in such a happy tone before. Before she could say anything Katie rushed into her room and turned on the music system and sang to her heart's content. In the evening she cheered the spirits of everyone in the house. She slept off thinking about him and hoped to see him the next day too!
