After thanksgiving, Katie had skipped her thoughts about this conversation. The next day in school was unsual.
As she entered the campus, everyone stared at her once again. They literally GLARED. She felt very uncomfortable. She increased her speed and head to her locker. She grabbed her books and walked towards her class. She was going to enter her class when she was pulled back.
"Ouuch! What the hell?"
"Sorry. I was just curious.. Are you the one who likes Kevin Adams?" exclaimed a boy.
"Uhh.. That's none of your business. Who are you?" she said getting his hand off her shoulder.
"Oh sorry. I'm Nate. I'm a friend of Kevin. You like him don't you?" said the guy.
Katie wasn't sure how to react to this.
"I-I don't..." she stuttered.
"Oh stop it Nate. Don't be mean now. It's okay to like someone right?" interrupted Alice.
Katie was shocked. Everyone had somehow gotten to know about her major crush on Kevin. She was very upset about this. She escaped the crowd and ran to the girls room.
When she got herself together and walked on the corridor everytime laughed at her and made fun of her all the time. At lunch Natasha came and sat beside her.
"Its okay Katie. Things happen. Don't pay attention to them. They'll forget this.." consoled Natasha.
"Oh yes KATIE.. Don't pay attention to us. Oh wait.. No one cares. You know why? Cause you're a DUFF, and DUFFs don't matter. Ha!" laughed Alice as she walked on by.
Katie was very angry at this. Her thoughts clashed and she asked herself questions, "A DUFF? I don't matter? How did they know I like Kevin? How dare Alice? She insulted me in front of everyone else!" All these thoughts almost brought tears to her eyes. She headed for the girls' room and all she heard on the way was 'DUFF'. For an entire week she didn't say a word. Her day started with"Here comes the DUFF" and it ended with "There goes the DUFF!" Every night she'd lock herself up and cry. She didn't look forward to another day at school.
