Nothing Makes Sence

It's already been two years into our relationship and nothing could be better. Even though our days were filled with work and irritating siblings, our nights were blissful. When the sun was down and the moon was up, Bruno and I could finally be alone to do whatever we wanted.

One day when I got home, I went to my bathroom and I saw Bruno pouring red rose petals into a milk bath.

I almost cried from this romantic gesture. "Is this for us?" I asked. He gasped and turned sharply, almost falling into the bathtub. "It's mostly for you." He said in a shy tone. I started to get suspicious. "Did Alejandro put you up to this? I mean I have been thinking about this scenario for a while but, it's not his place to tell you." He got closer to me and caressed my hair. "It wasn't Alejandro. I had a vision about it."

Oh good God. And the vision was exactly as he saw. Me soaking in the rose petals and milk with him massaging my body. I swear, he spoils me like the queen I am.  I know he is the only man that would do this for me. I've never felt happier in my life. He was my Nirvana.

There was one night we both got drunk and danced through the street of the Encanto. We were loud as hell but no one bothered us. Even though we got a tongue-lashing from Alma and Mama, it was still so worth it. Even Alejandro was getting sick of our lovey-dovey thoughts of each other and wore ear plugs at night.

At breakfast, Alejandro was covering his ears and giving me an irritated look. "Can you stop thinking about what you're thinking about Reina!?"

I gave him a defiant little smirk. He is too young to even understand what I'm thinking about.  "And what am I thinking about little brother?"

Alejandro's face turned into a face of disgust. "I can't even say because mama will use the chancla on both of us!"

When Mama heard her name, she turned to her son. "Reina is a young woman in love Alejandro. I should know. I felt the same way about my husband when I was her age."

She looked up at the candle on the balcony. It's honestly beautiful after all these years, their love is still so strong. Alejandro turned to Mama. "You really want to walk Reina down the aisle when she marries Bruno?"

She looked to her young son. "Yes Alejandro. I really do." I almost spit out my coffee hearing that. I wasn't even thinking about marriage at this point. Bruno and I were just living in the moment. We were in a relationship for two years without bringing up marriage. Most couples in the Encanto got married after a few months.

"Mama, Reina wants to get married but she wants to take it slow." Alejandro said. "That's understandable." Her eyes then got out of focus and she started shaking "Mama?" Mariana said with a concerned voice. Mama then fell out of her chair unconscious.

"Mama!" I yelled as I dropped to the ground and held her head in my lap. Alejandro stood over us with a look of fear in his eyes. "Reina, she's completely unconscious! I can't hear her thoughts!" I couldn't show any fear in this moment and took full control of the situation. "Sara, get Julieta! Mariana, Alejandro, help me carry Mama to her room!"

Sara started sprinting out of the Casita. Alejandro, Mariana and I took Mama to her room and gently placed her in her bed. I felt her body temperature drop down as I tried too warm her up again. She was starting to gain consciousness when Julieta got to us. Alma was with them as well. She rushed to Mama's side and took her hand. "Rosa, my sister. Are you all right?"

Mama tightened her grip on Alma's hand. "I saw my husband Alma." She whispered. "And, and I saw Pedro."

I gasped in shock. Mama turned to us. "I would like to talk to Reina alone." Julieta spoke up. "Senora Rosa, you really should-" Mama held up her hand. "No Julieta. I must tell my daughter something." Everyone left her bedroom in silence. Now it was just Mama and I. I sat on her bedside and she caressed my face.

"Reina, my child, when I saw your father, he reached out his hand. He told me to come with him." My eyes widened. I started shaking my head and I held her hand. "Mama, no.  You cannot leave us now." Mama tightened her grip. "My time is coming Reina. When it happens, I want you to be strong. I want you to lead this family. I want you to marry the love of your life, and have children."

The tears started falling from my eyes. They were so hot, they were started to burn my skin. "Its too soon Mama. My siblings are still so young."

"And I know you will take care of them as you always have. I love you, Alejandro Mariana and Sara to the ends of the world." She slowly sat up and then embraced me. I tightly embraced her back. This can't be happening. This can't be happening. I left Mama's room so she could rest and I found everyone in the kitchen. Seeing the tear stains on Alejandro's face made me realize he knew the situation.

"Reina!" He ran over and hugged me "I don't want Mama to die. She can't die!" I took Alejandro by the shoulders. "Mama is not going to die Alejandro." I told him. "And I'm going to make sure of it." Alma said softly. "What?" I asked. "Senora Alma wants Bruno to see what will happen to Mama." Alejandro said. God I didn't want Bruno to be a part of this tragedy. "Alma, please don't-"

"I have to." She said in a determined tone. "Rosa and I have shared so much together. We swore to our husband's we would use our family's gifts to help each other. And that help is needed now. " And she kept her word. She asked her son to look into my mother's future and he did. And what he saw was the day that he and everyone in the Encanto feared. And that day was soon.
