Being the Rodriguez matriarch wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. God Mama made it look so easy. Not only did I have to wake up earlier, get my three siblings ready for school, but also I had to do my work around the Encanto, avoiding the questions of marriage and babies from the villagers, and still have time to have a relaxing evening with mi amor. When I was cleaning the dishes of our dinner, Alejandro walked up to me. "Reina?" He knew that I wanted him in bed, so what is he doing?

"Yes little brother?" I asked. "Mariana, Sara and I have had a discussion. We've decided that we're old enough to get ready for school on our own. I know how much you're stressed out in the morning and we want to relieve at least one burdin for you. I already know what you're going to say, but we know how you don't want to wake us up and get us ready, but you do it because you love us." I sighed and ruffled his hair.

"Alejandro, you're sweet but you-" He slapped my hand away. "I am not too young for this. You told me Julieta became the best cook in the Encanto when she was my age. And Sara has always been the early riser in the family. If she can't wake us up, she'll probably do what Mama did with the ice water." God, my little rats were growing up. "All right. But I better not hear anything from your teacher."

Alejandro beamed. "Gracias sis!" He started to walk out the kitchen then turned back around. "And there's also another reason why we don't want you to get us ready." I turned to face him with my arms crossed. "And why is that?" He smirked at me. "Because you don't want to wake up from your dream of you and Bruno on your wedding day!" He yelled in a taunting way. I gasped and before I was about to throw a ball of fire at him, he ran off. God! He was right, but he didn't have to blurt it out. I sighed and continued to clean the dishes.

Things are changing for the better. A few weeks ago, Pepa and Julieta met these two guys named Augustin and Felix. Augustin was very accident-prone but Julieta was so happy whenever he came to her for a meal. And when Peppa had an anxiety attack, Felix swept her off her feet and literally danced through her storm. It was honestly quite cute.

For me, the best change was for Mariana. Today was the day that she was going to perform her music for the Encanto. She's been practicing for long hours in her room and it's really showed. The last time I saw her so excited was on her gift ceremony. Knowing my sister's, Mariana was cool as a cucumber and Sara was freaking out.

"Sara, you are going to flood your room with all your worrying." I told her as I tried to curl her hair with my gift. "I just really want this night to be perfect, you know Reina? Everyone's going to be here." She looked at me in worry. "Everyone was here on your gift ceremony." I said. "No you don't get it sis! Alejandro told me that Peppa and Julieta are bringing thier boyfriends! He told me that Augustin and Felix we're going to confess their feelings tonight!" Sara exclaimed.

My first question was why? Why would Alejandro tell her this when he probably knew that Sara was already worrying? "Did Alejandro tell Mariana this?" I asked. "No. He knows that if he tells her, she'll get nervous." I put my arms around her shoulders and looked at her. "Then he better not tell her or I'll light him up" I said with a smile. As if on cue, Alejandro walked in. "Sisters! Everyone is starting to arrive! They're so excited to hear Mariana!" Sara looked at him with annoyance.

"Alejandro, if you don't learn to start knocking, I will flood your whole room!" She yelled. "Sure you will." He said with a smirk and walked out. Sara sighed in frustration and looked to me. "Why is it that when I threaten him, he doesn't believe me, but when you do it, he immediately shuts up?" I got her dress on and started tying the lace on the back.

"Because I am the oldest sister.  Face is Sara, you are the youngest." After I said that, I got splashed with water. Sara turned to me and started apologizing. I forgave her and started to dry myself with my heat. "Reina, It's not my fault I was born five minutes after them!" She crossed her arms and pouted while I was smoothing down the wrinkles in her dress. "Another reason could be that Alejandro probably knows that when you threaten him, you won't go through with it."

Sarah looked into the mirror and scoffed. "Why the hell is he always right?" I knocked on her head with her hair brush. "Where did you learn that language?" I asked. She smiled and turned to me "You." I smiled at her and held her shoulders "You are the best and worst copycat I've ever had little sister." Sara grinned widely and embraced me. "Te amo hermana." I pulled from the hug and caressed her face. "Yo tambnién te amo." 

This tender moment was interrupted when we heard a knock and an annoying voice "Reina, your boyfriend's here!" I rolled my eyes then took Sara by the hand as we walked out of her room. "Congratulations Alejandro, you finally mastered the art of knocking before entering a room." I said as he stuck his tongue out at me. I ignored his defiant gesture and started to walk towards Bruno.

"Hola mi amore." I said as I kissed him softly. Felix  smirked at our affectionate gesture. "Well aren't you two passionate tonight?" Augustin put his arm around Felix's shoulder. "When are they not passionate Felix?" He added. Peppa scoffed out at their remarks, and took my hand. 

"I have to tell you something Reina. I cannot thank you enough for falling in love with my brother. I don't know what it is, but you have brought something out of him. He's so much happier now with you. He's more confident in himself. When you do get married, I cannot wait to call you my sister-in-law."

"Muchas gracias Peppa. You're so sweet."  I said as we embraced. Julieta was about to tell me something when Alejandro ran up to me. 'Reina! Mariana is ready to perform. She just needs you to announce her." I thanked him and Bruno helped me up on the tables. "May I have everyone's attention?" I projected. 

They all fell silent and looked to me "It is finally time for the main event. I would like everyone to move to Mariana's room in orderly fashion and the show will begin momentarily. Also I would advise you not to bring any glass." 

Everyone laughed at my small joke and started to move to Mariana's room and soon enough the audience was filled. The curtains opened revealing Mariana in a beautiful gown with a smiling face. When she started to send everyone's eyes were on her her voice was as beautiful as ever as she hit her high notes.

At the end of her set, everyone was up on that we're up on their feet cheering that was beautiful Augustine proclaimed as he wiped a tear from his eyes she learned it all from you." Mi amore said as he tightened a grip around my waist. "I never taught her how to sing. I only introduced her to music." 

Suddenly Augustin and Felix walked up to the stage. "What are they doing?" Julieta silently asked. Augustin puts his arm around Mariana's shoulders. "Mariana that was a beautiful performance! I have something to announce."

"So do I!" Felix said as he brought Peppa onto the stage and took her hand. "Peppa you are the most amazing woman I have ever met. I am thankful for all the days we shared together. And you are so blessed to have this amazing family. I got so bold that I asked your mama that I could be a part of that family. She said yes and I am hoping that you say the same when I ask you," He got down on one knee and pulled out a beautiful ring. "Will you marry-?"  

Peppa immediately said yes and jumped into his arms. Seeing them so happy with such a joyous moment for all of us. After the party started up again Augustin took the opportunity to get Julieta alone so he could propose and private. Only Alejandro could hear what was going on in their heads and he told me there was nothing but pure thoughts of love and happiness.

We all got together and decided that Peppa's wedding will be first and I would be her maid of honor. This was going to be a very joyous day. I could tell. I knew that there would be no clouds in the sky. Little did I know that I will be completely and utterly wrong.
