I followed Croweye, Whitestorm and Lionpaw into the large hollow where Cloudclan practiced combat.
My head spun. Yesterday I had fainted. Yesterday I had received a prophecy that had me up all night worrying about it. Yesterday was the day before the gathering.

"Skypaw! Snap out of it!"Croweye hissed. It was the third time I had been told off.
"Do you need some more rest?"Lionpaw asked, his eyes full of concern.
I shook my head, unfocused.
"If you want to become a warrior you have to stay focused."Whitestorm meowed softly. I nodded.
Focused. Stay focused.

"Let's practice. Lionpaw, Skypaw your up."Croweye meowed, eyeing me carefully.
I faced Lionpaw whose eyes were narrowed with concentration. He was only a few moons younger than me.
We began circling each other.
I knew he was waiting for me to make the first move.

I fake swiped at him. Bringing in my paw before it came near him. Lionpaw dodged, falling for the trick.
I quickly pounced. Pinning him down.
Lionpaw battered at my belly and pushed me off.
I growled, it had taken all of my strength to pin him down.
Lionpaw leaped for me.
I could see his body ready to twist in the air if I side-stepped.
With a heartbeat to spare I ducked under him.
Lionpaw landed unsteadily.
I took the opportunity to leap onto his back. My hind legs gently scraped his back, claws sheathed so I wouldn't hurt him.

I let him go.
Lionpaw spun around to face me. His eyes burning with rage.
I grinned. Lionpaw's expression change to annoyance.
"Lionpaw, what did you learn?"Whitestorm asked.
Lionpaw sighed. He knew what he had done wrong.
"Not to assume what my opponent's going to do next and instead think of all the possibilities and plan ahead."Lionpaw ducked his head, eyes on the ground.
I immediately felt bad for him.

"Skypaw. You need to react quicker and do more complex moves otherwise you'll make running away all the time."Croweye advised me.
I knew I took advantage of Lionpaw not thinking ahead.
I nodded. "I'll work on that."

Whitestorm dismissed us and headed back to camp with Lionpaw.
"Nice job though. You could easily beat a new apprentice."Croweye praised me.
I beamed. "Don't worry Croweye. I'll focus on attacking next lesson."I smiled.
"Also nice job at faking back there."Croweye looked impressed.
My smile turned into a grin as I headed back to camp. I forgot all about the stupid prophecy stuff as I thought about being a warrior.
