"pssst...lia! time to wake the fuck up. pssst...lia!"
"you're takin' the piss now eleanor." ophelia mumbled as she rolled over to face her roommate. eleanor was already dressed for the day. she looked rather nice before ophelia tossed a pillow right at her head.
"oi! it's not my fault YOU are going to be late to classes," she said rubbing her hair back down, "anyway, put your robes on you dosser. breakfast will be done with soon." with that, she picked up her school bag and left the room. ophelia groaned as her bare feet hit the cold wooden floor of their dormitory. her cough sounded thick with the remanence of cigarette smog. "let's not make that a habit." she thought to herself.
in the bathroom, she quickly redid her hair. her curls were slightly knitted together. all of it looked a bit flat but there was no time for a wash. her teeth got brushed and face got washed. she looked into the mirror one more time. this was the first time in a long time where she felt beautiful. she embraced the way she looked. yet a twinge of pain ran right through her chest. she didn't know how her father does it. she looks just like her mother.

ophelia finished buttering up her toast. the bread was perfectly crisp and the butter was so smooth it practically melted on contact with the toast. somehow, the elves managed to make something so simple so delicious. ophelia savored every bite."ready for classes lia? i bet ur already smarter than the rest of these daft dimbo's." ophelia chuckled at eleanor's comment. while she was almost top of all her subjects at beauxbaton, she wasn't sure how she'd measure up at hogwarts. they had a whole lot who were known for being the smartest in the school.
"i am not too sure. i hope i do well. oh shit, that reminds me, have you got your timetable? i want to see if we've ended up in classes together." eleanor pulled out her timetable from her bag and handed it to ophelia who was reaching for hers. she put the sheets side by side and examined both. her face lit up when she saw that they had all the required classes together, plus one extra. divination. they did not have arithmancy though. eleanor opted for ancient runes, a subject that just did not tickle ophelia's fancy. she handed eleanor back her timetable and continued eating her toast. then she remembered. with all the excitement of yesterday, she forgot to ask cedric for his timetable. she really hoped they would have some together. then again, it probably wasn't the best idea. ophelia would never be able to focus.
"alright now that i've stuffed me gullet, are you ready to head to class?" ophelia nodded and both girls went on their way.
-----------------------
the first week of classes went by in a blur. ophelia got lost. a lot. all the stairs moved when she didn't want them too, the ghosts directions weren't helpful, and by the time she made it to her destination she was late. however, she was happy to find that she had all her required classes with cedric. while they didn't have divination together, they did have arithmancy. on the first day of the class, ophelia was late (of course) and she walked in to every seat being taken. every seat, except the one next to cedric. he sat in the back right corner of the room. when she walked in, he looked up at her right way, smiled, and motioned for her to sit with him. her face turned bright red but she sat with him happily. underneath the table, he intertwined their fingers. they held hands for the whole lesson unless they needed to write. as soon as they were done writing, their hands were like magnets. they always found their way back.in her first defense against the dark arts lesson, the new professor took a liking to ophelia.
"ah miss ambrose! i've worked with your father many times on ministry business," he told her whilst shaking her hand, "good to have you in class. i am professor remus lupin. really glad not to be the only new face. should you need anything, you know where i might be." ophelia smiled at him and was relieved to have a teacher at hogwarts that knew her for something other than being new. she would write to her father later about her encounter with remus lupin.
