Chapter 16

Lilas POV

We all meet up at the wagon but for some reason, Ellie and Lizbeth were missing. I looked up at Jack. He seemed to be nervous because he knew something that I did not. What did he know that we did not? My mom and Harper had gone a different way. They said that they had to go somewhere and did not say where or why.

"Where are they? They should be here by now, shouldn't they? Do you think something happened to them while they were shopping" I said worried about them?

All of a sudden I heard something but it sounded like something that I somehow knew that no one else could hear. I had a feeling that I needed to get away from them and then I needed to find out what this voice wanted. It said 'you need to get away from Jack and Enola. They know something and they're not telling you. Your sister needs you,' the voice said.

"I and Amare will go and try to retrace their steps. You guys go ask around to see if anyone else saw them." "I said everyone nodded. Amare and I walked back over to the store that the two of them had been shopping in. Once we were out of Jack and Enola's sight I pulled Amare over to the side and looked around.

"Over her" I heard the voice call yet again. I turned around to see a horse. He was jet black and looked at me with his golden eyes. I walked over to him and he bowed to me which was weird because I had never had an animal bow to me before.

"Are you the one that has been calling me? What do you want from me?" I said looking at him. I was wondering why he wanted me to walk away from the others.

"I am here on behalf of my king and your sister." The horse said. When he said king I realized that he most likely meant the one that Jack and Enola had talked about that was trying to kidnap Ellie. I needed to find and rescue her from that evil man.

"Where is my sister and what have you and your king done to her? Is she safe and alive?" I said, looking at the man nervously. Was she ok? I needed to find her and fast.

"She is fine, get on I will take you to them right away," The horse said I was not sure if I trusted him but before I could say anything Amare was on his back. I had been translating the conversation and so she knew what was going on. She knew that we needed to go find her right away.

She held out her hand and pulled me up. I told the horse that if he was lying then I would kill him. He told me that he was not and that we would be there shortly but that we should hold on tight. I nodded and we took off.

When we got to the place that we were told that they would be, it was an empty field that had arrows scattered across it. What happened here and more importantly are they ok.
