Just the countryside

Chapter 12

 I stared at Enola and then I thought about what she had said. Did she say magic? Was she joking? No, she was being completely serious. I could tell by the look on her face, that this was insane. As I thought things over I wondered if Jack knew about this.

I was so mad at the idea that "JACK!! Get your ass in here!" I screamed at the top of my lungs so pissed that I could not contain it anymore. I heard something fall then the noise of fast footsteps. He rushed into the room worried about why I yelled.

"What's wrong, what happened," He said. When his eyes landed on me he backed away slowly. Why was he backing away he seemed confused but I should be the confused one.

All of the sudden the lights all went out and I heard a scream from outside. Completely forgetting about Jack I ran outside to find Amare who was surrounded by strange rocks.

"What is going on here" I yelled looking at the rocks in a mix of fear and ah. What was happening? All of the Sudden the rocks collapsed back into the ground as if they were never there.

"Oh my god, I can not believe that you did that and you are so little," Enola said looking at Lila in astonishment I was still not completely sure what she was talking about.

"Jack, do you know what is going on here," I said looking at him, pretty sure that I would explode in anger if he did not answer or lie to me about it. He looked down at his feet and then motioned to some chairs on the side of the house. We all went over and sat down.

"As Enola said you are all from the royal family of the fox kingdom, you all have powers that fight to each of your personalities and because you are from the royal family you each can control one element and things that are connected to it," Jack said looking at his feet the whole time.

"That is why Lila can talk to animals; her element is earth. The rocks from just now were probably because Lila was worried about Amare so that is probably why the rocks formed around her." Enola said in a voice that showed she was worried about what was happening But I could not tell why.

"If she has earth, what do the rest of us have? Also, why do you look so worried about this? It seems like a good thing." I said looking at both of them.

"Because if you have your powers the prince of the wolf clan can track you down and he will be looking for you, Ellie. So you all have to be careful what you do." Enola looked at me with worried eyes and I stared at her wondering why she was so scared. Just then I heard the sound of a large explosion. Then a large cloud of smoke shot up above the trees not far away.

The next few seconds seemed to go by in slow motion. Lila jumped out of her seat and ran along with the fox that had been sitting in her lap. Enola rushed after her and I finally registered what was going on. I jumped up and ran into the house grabbing my bow and a pair of daggers along with Lilas's belt for her. I then grabbed two extra-large knives and put them on my belt along with my two small ones.

Soon I had everything and the others had grabbed their things as well and we then ran into the woods. Within five minutes of the explosion we were all at the explosion site and I had given Enola and Lila their weapons.

"Let's split up if you find anything to yell," Lizbeth said looking at us all. We all ran in different directions. And soon I was completely lost. I had no idea where I was or how in the world I had gotten there. Then I heard a noise in a bush behind me. I turned around grabbing one of the daggers from my belt.

I jumped into the bush pining a boy that looked about my age to the ground with a dagger against his neck. He held his hands up as a sign of defeat and looked at me with mysterious eyes. What color were they amber maybe or some kind of gold?

"Whoa, there tiger I am not here to hurt you. Um well, how are you" The mysterious boy said, looking at me with a puzzled look. I looked him over and then let him go standing up and giving him my hand. He took it gratefully and stood up looking at me.

"I am Ellie what is your name," I said looking at him wondering who he was and why he was around here.

"I am Prince Lucas of the wolf kingdom. You would not happen to be Princes Ellie of the fox kingdom or would that be too easy since she is who I am looking for." He said I looked at him worried. If he was the prince then that meant he was the man I was supposed to marry and He was looking for me.

I felt my blood run cold. I needed to get out of here and not cause suspicion. I could not yell to alert the others because that might alarm him or show him who I was. I was not sure what to do. I looked at a small fox that was nearby and smiled, holding my hand out to it.

It came up to me and rubbed against my hand. Carefully making sure that he would not know what I was doing I hooked my bracelet around its paw. Now I just needed it to go to Lila so she could see what I was trying to tell her but that meant I would have to say her name so it knew what I wanted it to do.

"Oh, how cute you do, remind me of a cat my sister Lila used to have. And you, I have no idea who this princess you speak of is but since she has the same name as me I am sure she is just as beautiful and fierce as me." I said looking at the man in front of me. With that, the fox ran off into the woods and all I could do was hope that it would come back with help.

"Well you seem to not be who I am looking for but do you know where I would find any other people that live in these woods because I am sure that she is here," He said looking at me, his keen eyes seeming to pierce into my soul.

"Sorry, but I and my family are the only people that live in these woods for miles and I am sure that you are not looking for any of them since all of my siblings are boys and I do not have a mother living with us. Maybe you should try a different stretch of woods" I said, twisting myself into more of a lie than I had already been in.

I needed to get him out of here before he noticed who I was or that I was lying about my family. I had no idea if he even believed me and that made me even more worried. He looked at me and tilted his head to the side sniffing the air. What was he doing and why was he doing it for that matter?

"Are you lying to me right now?" he said and looked at him shocked before I quickly composed myself. How did he know that I was lying to him and if he knew that I was lying now did he know that I was lying back when I had said that I did not know what princess he was talking about.

"What are you talking about? I am not a liar are you saying that I am a liar?" I tried to act like what he said was fenceline to me even though I did not really care what this man thought of me. Also was lying to him so he had every right to think so.

"You are the one I am looking for aren't you. You think that I do not know when people lie to me. I am going to need you to come with me princess" He said looking at me I reached for my pocket and grabbed my knife turning and running I ran and heard him behind me he was following me close behind.

I did not need to get away from him, I just needed to get to the girls so that we could get some extra help. All of a sudden I felt a small shift in the wind and veered to the side swing and the arrow flew right past where my arm was. This man really does not give up, does he? I looked ahead and saw a clearing. I knew exactly where we were and I had an idea of what to do.

I whistled the loudest that I could hoping that I was right about this as I ran into the clearing. As I ran through the clearing Daisy broke through the tree line and ran next to me. I grabbed onto her saddle and pulled myself onto her sitting in the saddle backward. I then pulled out the bow and one of the arrows on the saddle. I then looked up to see the man looking at me. He then shifted into what looked like a large golden brown wolf. My eyes widened as I saw this and I shot arrows in a line stopping him in his tracks I carefully turned back along in the saddle so that I was facing forward and I flicked the rain making Daisy go faster and we took off trying to get away.
