"I don't know what is more unbelievable, the fact that you started a fucking cult or the fact that you only now realised it was an idiotic idea."
Those were the first words Dahlia said to her friend when they were out on the road in his beaten up car. She and Ben had been waiting where their car had been parked, bored and over his cult activities. They were in a field, chatting amongst themselves as Dahlia sprawled against the hood of the car, deep in discussion about the underrated flavours of ice cream. That was before they were interrupted by a loud voice calling out to them.
"Get in the car! Right now!" Klaus had exclaimed to the two, forcing Dahlia to sit up properly with a frown.
Ben was equally confused but had grown to accept his idiotic plans, holding out a hand to pull Dahlia off the car. Pulling open the car door, he motioned for her to get inside while turning his attention to the panicked man rushing towards them. "Where are we going?"
"Away. Hurry, quick, quick, quick."
Once they were seated in the car and Klaus started the ignition, Dahlia chose her time to break the silence. Ben snickered while Klaus groaned, rubbing his temple with a tired sigh. "They're exhausting." He complained and Dahlia restrained an 'I told you so'.
Instead she just gave him a pitying smile, turning up the music that played on the radio as she hummed along. This was the reality of being friends with Klaus, constant disasters that required an immediate escape. Dahlia grew used to the sudden change in scenery, adapting easily to the swift switch, she had grown used to it. As soon as Klaus bailed, she and Ben were at his side and following along to whatever reckless shit he had planned for them next.
Just like they always were...
Resting on a sunbed, Dahlia held a book above her head to shield her eyes from the attack on the sun. Splashing was audible behind her as Klaus lolled around in the pool, complaining every now and again.
It had been a couple months since their 'escape' and unsurprisingly, they were back at his cult, knowing they had no other place to reside. It was hard being in such an unaccepting time, Klaus not mirroring stereotypes and Dahlia being viewed as an outsider.
But here, they could be anyone they wanted.
Closing her book, Dahlia tossed it on Ben's lap as he scoffed. Sending him a teasing smile, she tilted her head innocently. Moving her hands around her waist, she undid the material she had wrapped around her, dropping that on his lap.
Stood in nothing but a bikini, she gave him a teasing wink before turning on her heel and jumping into the pool with Klaus. Ben watched her rush over to Klaus, pushing him off the floaty and a laugh passed his lips as the unsuspecting man fell into the pool, curses on the tip of his tongue.
