A cigarette was pressed to the woman's lips as she stared into the restaurant through the windows of the doors. There was a bored expression on her face as she leaned against the pillar supporting the door. Opposite her was a man who went invisible to everyone but two unlucky souls who were able to access the other side. He was watching his brother with a mirroring expression, his arms crossed over his chest as he counted down in his head how long it would take until everything kicked off.

The two were unfazed as they glanced at their reckless other half, this was not anything new and besides, they had told him this was idiotic — it was his fault that he did not listen.

"How dare you! I am a member of the royal family!"

The two watched as their friend exclaimed his defense through mouthfuls of food. He had been sat in the booth eating some food, while disturbing several customers, and a manager had finally had enough, opting to escort him out. As he tried to calmly ask the man to leave, he was reciprocated with the man's stubbornness.

Outside, the woman merely took a drag from her cigarette and blinked slowly, watching her best friend be hoisted out of his seat by her arms. The man opposite her pushed himself off the wall and walked to her side, equally unimpressed.

"He's touching me inappropriately!"

A deep sigh followed as the door was flung open, forcing the woman to take a step back with an irriated eye roll. "I told you once, I told you twice!" The manager retorted as he pushed him through the open door, forcing his body onto the concrete floor. "Don't come back till you can pay your damn bill!"

Glancing at the body at her feet, the woman took another drag from her cigarette before tossing the end carelessly into the street. Crouching down, she tilted her head and hummed to herself, raising a painted fingernail to poke the man's head. "You're an idiot, Klausy." She mused before standing back up.

Groans hit her ears as Klaus frowned at the floor below him, vomit spilling from his lips. "Suck a dick, Lia. You two Ben!"

"I didn't even say anything?" Ben rolled his eyes as Klaus chuntered under his breath, clearly mocking his brother.

The woman, named Dahlia scoffed as she raised her boot to press against her cigarette end. Just as she looked up, she found an elderly lady, evidently rich, stop and glance at the fallen man on the floor beneath her. Adjusting her glasses, she pressed a sympathetic hand to her heart, muttering about how mistreated Klaus had been.

Crouching down, the woman helped Klaus up off the floor and from that interaction, their life in the sixties changed suddenly. From the moment Klaus wrapped his arms around that woman and begun to sweet talk, the two judgmental people behind him shared a look, knowing this was him scheming.

But like always, they followed at his side.

The trio had an odd dynamic and it had all begun from one shared joke at a rehabilitation centre. As the time slipped away from them and the bonds were formed, Dahlia found herself growing attached to the shadow on his shoulder, both mirroring despair as they constantly watched Klaus deteriorate. While Dahlia found herself somewhat recovered, Klaus only got worse and worse, falling deeper into his addiction with every second.

Klaus was reckless and chaotic, massively balanced by the stoic and calm presences that surrounded him. While he made idiotic decisions, the two attempted to talk him out of it, but mostly just sat back and watched him ignore them, resulting in them exchanging mirroring looks that clearly showed how over it they were. Ben was calm and rational, offering a supportive voice to the two whenever he saw they were getting bad again. While Dahlia was a mix of both, she seemed more willing to listen to Ben's rational thoughts.

Perhaps that what made them so close — they just listened to each other.

It also helped that she was able to see him, thanks to her being alike all his siblings: born with an unknown power.

Idiotically, this was not the first time Dahlia had made a stupid decision to follow Klaus' plans, after all she had stayed with Klaus from the very moment they had met in a rehabilitation centre, never leaving his side no matter how far he went. She would never admit it to him but he and his ghostly brother had saved her in ways she could never verbalise, it was her time to repay the favour.

That was how she ended up joining him to his childhood home to prepare for his father's funeral. However, had she known that accepting his idiotic invitation would result in her attempting to save the world and being sent back in time, landing in Texas in the sixties, she would have refused the offer.

Who would have thought one inappropriate joke would have lead her here...

...best friends with a cult leader...

That was not how Dahlia predicted the events to follow; sat in the old lady's mansion as she showcased Klaus to her rich friends. He had convinced the people that he was something other wordly and in true cult leader fashion, he had everyone in the palm of his hand.

For this specific moment, he was using his 'spiritual magic' to levitate.

Or in other words, an unhelpful associate was helping him.

Unknown to everyone, when Klaus rose in the air, he was being hoisted up by an irritated looking Ben, a scowl adorning his features as he wondered how he had even been convinced to partake in such stupid activities. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Dahlia, the woman sprawled across a sofa with a magazine in her lap. Although she was more preoccupied with the act before her, barely restraining a teasing smile.

As the old people in the room begun to applaud the act, Ben caught sight of Dahlia mockingly copying them. She mouthed 'you're never living this down' to him and his irritation only increased. He considered dropping Klaus as he had to pivot around, making it appear as if Klaus was doing it of his own accord.

Sometimes he wondered if being dead was the worst thing to happen to him, or if it was this humiliation that was worse.

Unable to support the man's weight, the two collapsed, sending Klaus crashing to the floor with an audible thud. Dahlia merely rolled her eyes and closed the magazine she had been pretending to read. Rising from the sofa, she quietly left the room, aware of Ben eagerly following her like a lost puppy while Klaus groaned from the pain of the impact.
