"How many times are we going to watch him destroy his life?" Ben quizzed Dahlia as they sat in the booth of a restaurant, watching Klaus take his chance to go and speak to Dave once again.

Dahlia stayed quiet and frowned, placing a chip into her mouth as she sighed. She wanted to be there for her best friend but sometimes it grew exhausting watching him make the most idiotic decisions. However, as her role as best friend, she had to sit and watch, there to pick him up again when he crumbled.

Watching the man approach the table, Dahlia groaned quietly, shaking her head as she dropped it into her hands. As long as she had known Klaus, she knew he was argumentative, unintentionally saying things that would summon a reaction out of whoever it was he was disagreeing with. The man, Dave's Uncle, looked like someone who took no bullshit from anyone and Dahlia knew this was going to end badly.

"How 'bout you get outta my seat, queer."

A wince followed as Klaus sarcastically laughed, his retort being interrupted as the man grabbed his arm and forced him out of the seat. Resuming his prior position, he glared at his nephew and scoffed as Klaus basically begged for a moment of Dave's time.

For a brief moment, Dahlia was uncertain who she felt worse for, Dave or Klaus. Klaus was heartbroken watching his lover not recognise him and Dave was overwhelmed, his Uncle yelling thoughts into his mind, altering his perceptions right before his eyes.

"Hit the queer. Hit the queer. Hit him, damn it."

Ben frowned as he watched Dahlia get out of her seat and leave the restaurant, unable to stay and watch her best friend be ridiculed in such a way. She could not step in as she knew Klaus would be pissed and she just could not stand by and witness it. Just as the door opened she heard the sound of glass smashing and footsteps.

Turning around, she saw Klaus rush past her, holding a hand to his face and her gaze softened and her frown deepened. Following after him, she called out his name but he continued rushing forwards, trying to keep his emotions under check.

"Hey, hey, come here," Dahlia called out, pulling him into her as she finally got him to stop, "it's okay."

Klaus only shook his head and gave her a small pat on the head, slipping out of her hold. Immediately, he entered the shop they had stopped outside and Dahlia groaned, following after him. In the alcohol section, she located Ben and Klaus, the ghost trying to reason with his brother about not giving in but Klaus was having none of it, laughing to himself as he held out Dahlia's favourite drink.

The frown on Dahlia's face made Ben want to do a double take, never seeing the girl so conflicted about something. Her eyes shifted between the drink and her best friend's encouraging smile.
