In the police station, Ben rounded the corner, wiping his hands of the invisible dust and gave the two a proud smirk as he approached. Klaus was carelessly sprawled across a chair while Dahlia leaned against the wall, her arms crossed over her chest. When she saw the proud expression on her friend's face, she rolled her eyes, he truly was too cocky for his own good. He had gone to get Allison's husband out of jail, an attempt to scare the officers into releasing him.
"Don't gloat." Klaus commented and for once Dahlia was agreeing with him.
As she nodded along to what he was saying, she chimed in, "your ego is too big already, you're going to inflate if it gets any bigger."
Ben merely maintained his overconfident grin, raising his fingers to his mouth as he blew on them. He walked towards an unimpressed Dahlia and the woman merely blinked at him. Amused at her lack of reaction, he bumped his shoulder against hers as he walked past, causing her brows to furrow as they landed on the teasing ghost.
"I'll kill you again, you tentacle wielding dickhead." Dahlia announced, chasing after him as he disappeared around a corner, the two drifting out of sight of Klaus.
Said man glanced at the direction in which they had left, shaking his head as he stretched in the chair. For such smart people they truly were horrendously oblivious to whatever the fuck was going on between them. Sometimes he wanted to just scream the answers in their face but he kept quiet, they would figure it out, sooner or later.
Klaus just prayed it was sooner than later, he was getting sick of their exchanges, it made him want to scream.
"You? You got me out...?"
"What the hell are we doing here?" Ben called out with furrowed brows as he looked at the shop their car had paused outside of. "Some ole DIY?"
Klaus turned the ignition off and glanced at his best friend and brother. "You just stay here, pumpkin." He announced, checking his reflection in the mirror before giving them a goodbye wave and opening the car door.
Once he left, the two remaining in the car exchanged a mirroring look, wondering what had gotten into the man. They had dropped Allison's husband off and Klaus had told them there was some place he wanted to quickly go. Ben and Dahlia had desperately wanted ice cream but Klaus promised them they would go after, claiming it was something important.
So when they pulled up outside a DIY store, they were perplexed to say the least.
"Klausy," Dahlia called out the window as she watched the man hesitate by the door, "please make good decisions."
Ben nodded and pointed in her direction. "That means don't do anything dumb!"
Klaus waved them off and opened the door, the two watching him from the car. Turning to one another, Dahlia sighed and leaned back to rest her head on the passenger seat headrest. Her head was pounding and she was growing exhausted. Her 'abilities' had weird side effects and exhaustion was one of them. She wondered if she would ever find the off switch to them, wishing for just one day when she was not met with their cries and pleads for help as they attempted to reach out for her. Sending them away could only do so much, leaving a dull ache in her head to remind her that despite it all, they never truly left.
