Is This Love?

Chapter 12~ Tears

Time to go to bed. The sisters slept on the big bed, while the boys slept on the floor beside them. Apparently Kirika and Kanae were the only ones to fall asleep, leaving the other two wide awake.

"Kuzuha? You're awake?" whispered Kanako.

"Hm? Yeah" he whispered back.

Kanako flipped over so that she was lying on her stomach to better talk to Kuzuha. The two had a chat about many things. Turns out they had a lot in common. Soon they found themselves laughing in the darkness of the room.

After a short pause, Kanako remembered something she had been meaning to ask.

"By the way, don't you wanna say something to Kanae soon?"

"Eh? What do you mean" Kuzuha replied, not quite understanding what the girl meant.

Kanako smiled, although it couldn't be seen in the dark. 

"I mean," she clarified, "you've probaby realized that you love him right?"

The vampire stayed silent for a while, his face heating up as he struggled to think of what to say. The other chuckled.

"Hey..you should tell him soon before it's too late."

The next morning

Kanae was sure he would be the first one up. He rolled around a bit and opened his eyes, expecting to see Kuzuha's sleeping face. To his disappointment, Kuzuha was already awake and laughing about...something? He wondered what made Kuzuha laugh so sweetly like that. Something about it sparked curiosity in him. The brunette was about to sit up but he froze at the sound of a voice. Kanako? He didn't know why but suddenly his heart ached so much. Why did he have to wake up? Why did he have to hear Kuzuha being so happy with a girl? What ever happened? It's a common thing for people to choke up and feel hurt when they see their crush happily talking to someone else, but this is something Kanae thought he would never experience. He shut his eyes tightly.

Kanae smiled and thought to himself, "I guess my feelings for him grew a lot." 

Suddenly, he felt something cold touch his cheek. The coldness wiped away tears that he didn't even know were flowing. 

"You're really gonna do it today?!" Kanako whisper-yelled.

Kuzuha laughed, "We'll see about that." He felt butterflies already. He turned back to look at Kanae's face only to see tears falling one by one.

"Did he have a nightmare?" Kanako asked, concerened

The vampire reached out his hand to wipe away the tears. He almost smiled knowing that Kanae is still cute when he cries. Today, let me confess to you properly, he thought to himself.
