MAEVE SLOAN THOUGHT HER FATHER MARK SLOAN WAS IN THE CLEAR AFTER THE accident. but it seems as if faith wasn't on her side... nor her father's side. mark sloan had entered in some sort of coma. one minute he was fine, talking to maeve about her starting eleventh grade and then the next maeve went to talk to lexie, only because mark begged her to. and when the sixteen year old was walking back to her father's room, the words spoken by richard webber made her heart stop, "crash cart"

✈︎ 𝓜ark sloan held a soft smile on his face as he watched his daughter go on and on about starting eleventh grade. he only hoped he would be there to witness all the joy to come "i have also thought about joining the cheerleading squad" the sixteen year old told her father as she was sat on the hospital bed beside him

maeve sloan watched as her father's eyes widen. she could already feel a storm of a lecture coming, but for some reason he held it back. he nodded instead and formed a smile "i already know, you're going to be the best cheerleader. heck, you'll even be the cheerleading captain" he meant ever word, she was a sloan

the sixteen year old couldn't help but to grin "i wouldn't go as far as to say cheerleading captain" she snickered

a small grin formed on mark's lips, but it soon faded when he felt the need to remind his daughter just how amazing she is. he shook his head slightly "don't doubt yourself, maeve" the sixteen year old furrows her brows at the mention of her name. usually, he would call her munchkin or honey

outside of his icu room, richard webber was explaining to the surgical intern, heather brooks about the surge. seeing as derek shepherd question webber: you think it's the surge? "in many terminally ill patients, they have a final surge of energy. they get better before they get worse"

"but this is not that" jackson avery assured

"but in a little while, he'll do what all patients do. he'll have epiphanies, he'll tell you what really matters in life, ask for his family--" the four surgeons turned to take a look at mark sloan talking with maeve... his family

"the man is telling dirty jokes. it's not a-- not a surge" derek cut him off

jackson laughs "no, i don't think so either" he added
