DEAN SALVATORE WAS WORRIED. IT HAS BEEN A WHOLE MONTH SINCE HE LAST heard from maeve sloan. he has left her what feels like hundreds of messages, yet no response. so here he was, sitting at his kitchen table while his plate of spaghetti sat in front of him, untouched. lily salvatore who was getting ready to leave for her afternoon shift at the bank, had walked in and noticed her son, completely out of it and it wasn't the first time

lily let out a sigh, she places her bag on her kitchen island and walks over to sit by her sixteen year old son "honey" she speaks with such ease. her voice caused dean to be pulled from his thoughts, his eyes find hers "what's going on in that head of yours?" she asks

he shook his head "nothing. i-i uh, i have to go to damian's" he says, before going to stand, but his mother grips his hand

"dean, you know you can talk to me right?" lily spoke as she stopped her son from leaving

the sixteen year old glanced at his mother, lily held a worried look. he felt a punch to his gut, the last thing he wanted to do was have his mother worrying about him. she already has the worry of having to work shift after shift just to pay off their bills. he sighs before sitting back down in his seat. he shrugs "i'm just worried about a friend"

lily furrows her brows "which friend?" she wonders if it was about maeve

dean gave her a look to not push it "a friend" he assured "she  hasn't--" he closed his eyes in frustration that he just gave away that it was about a girl. he could already picture his mother's raised brow and sly grin. he sighs before continuing "she hasn't responded to any of my messages, it's been like a month" he says as he runs a hand through his hair "i don't know what i did to make her want to distance herself from me. just before that we were hanging out and we planned to do all these things together"

lily tried to hide the smile threatening to spill, the thought of her baby boy experiencing his first love was special to her "well, i can't speak for her, but i know when i sixteen, i would have days where i just didn't want to text anyone. i would go through these hard times and i would just go incognito.  maybe, your friend is going though something like that. i doubt that she would just leave you in the dust. plus, something serious must be going on for anyone to just leave my baby boy in the dark" she grins, hoping to somewhat bring up his mood
