Y/n POV

I was at the Salvatore boardinghouse as me and Stefan went to check on Damon who looks very weak to be moving around. We see him laying down as we gave him vervain to put him down for a very long time. "Where's my ring?" Damon said weakly. "You won't be needing it anymore." I said blankly as Damon just groans in pain. "How long have I been here?" Damon asked us. "Three days." Stefan said. "What are you doing?" Damon asked. "During the dark ages when a vampire's actions threatened to expose or bring harm upon the entire race, they would face judgment. They sought to re-educate them rather than to punish them." Stefan said. "You know what will happen if I don't . . . Feed on blood." Damon said. "You'll grow weaker and weaker. And eventually you won't be able to move or speak. In a week your skin will desiccate, and you'll mummify. A living corpse, unable to hurt anyone. Ever." I said. "So what, you're just going to leave me in the basement, forever?" Damon asked us. "We've injected you with enough vervain to keep you weak. Once your circulation stops, I'll move you to the family crypt, and then in 50 years, we can reevaluate." Stefan said. "I'm stronger than you think." Damon said. "You always have been. But you're not stronger than the vervain. And we know it." I said. "I'm sorry. It didn't have to be this way." Stefan said then we both went back upstairs, I could see Stefan is a little sad about what he did. "Hey, you did what you had to do to protect Elena." I said.

We went to Zach who was waiting for us. "He's awake. He's weak, but it's probably best to stay out of the basement. He's Damon, not sure how dangerous he still might be." Stefan said. "You're going to school?" Zach asked him. "Came here to live a life. It's about time I get back to that. And Elena, if she's still speaking to me." Stefan said. "Why haven't you called her?" Zach asked him. "What am I supposed to do, feed her another lie? I hate lying to her, Zach. I'm not good at it. She already thinks I'm hiding something." Stefan said. "What choice do you have? You came back here because you want to live a normal life as you could. You knew this was going to be part of it." Zach said. I then grabbed my bag that was by the door and left to school with Stefan. When we arrived I immediately got dragged by Caroline and another girl as we where walking in the hallway on our way to our lockers. "The sexy car wash is tomorrow. The football team and the band have committed." Caroline said as I see Elena and bonnie talking to each other. "Well, not all the band. Just the ones who can pull off a bikini." Caroline continued as I quickly left and went to Elena and Bonnie. "I see you're finally out of Caroline grasp." Bonnie said to me. "Well I was just walking in when she immediately grabbed me so I had a way to escape from her clutches." I said making both girls laugh. Elena looked at Caroline with an unbelievable expression. "Unbelievable. It's like nothing happened." Elena said to us. "She's in denial." Bonnie said. We all looked at Caroline who just keeps talking about the fundraiser.

Then Stefan walked up to us and now it's a little awkward. "Hey, Uh, you know, I gotta go, Uh, be somewhere right now." Bonnie said awkwardly and left. I leaned up against the lockers and folded my arms over my chest seeing how this will play out. ""I'm so sorry I haven't called." Stefan said. "No worries. I'll live." Elena said angrily. "I was dealing with Damon." Stefan said. "And did you? Deal with Damon?" Elena asked. "Yes. Yeah." Stefan said. "For four days?" Elena asked him. "You have every right to be upset with me, but I can explain it all to you, please?" Stefan asked her. "Sure, when?" She asked. "I gotta be home after school, but the grill, around 4:00?" Stefan asked. "Ok." Elena said. "Thanks." Stefan said. Just then Caroline walked up to us. "Stefan? Where Damon? He has some serious apologizing to do." Caroline said. "He's gone, Caroline." Stefan said. "When's he coming back?" Caroline asked. "He's not coming back. I'm sorry." Stefan said then walked away. It was quiet for a little bit until Elena spoke up. "This is a good thing, Caroline." Elena said. "I know that." Caroline said.

After school let out I headed to the grill to meet up with Matt and played one vs one on pool. Elena came up to us right after I took my turn. "Hey, Matt, y/n, have you seen Stefan?" Elena asked us. "Nope." We both said. Matt looked at me before Elena was about to walk away. "If you want to kill some time, um, you can rack. C'mon we haven't played in forever. I'll let you break." I said, while Matt took this time to leave us alone together. I see Elena giving me a smirk. We then started playing pool together forgetting that Stefan was supposed to be here. Elena then started to talk about her morning. "And then there's Vicki, all nonchalant in the bathroom like it's no big deal that they're hooking up." Elena said to me and Matt who just came back and watch us play. "Yeah, I'm not gonna lie. Your brother and my sister, that's weird." Matt said. "Yeah." Elena said. Just then her phone rings telling her that she got a message. She looked at it and that's when I decided to speak up. "How late is he?" Matt asked. "Hitting the hour mark. Hope there's nothing wrong. Which means I'm not talking boy problems with you." Elena said. "Good. I mean, it's not like we were ever best friends or anything." Matt said.
