"Dear friend, across the riverMy hands are cold and bare
Dear friend across the river
I'll take what you can spare
I ask of you a penny
My fortune it will be
I ask you without envy
We raise no mighty towers
Our home are built of stone
So come across the river
And find the world below"
I woke up from my sleep, only to find myself stranded on a boat in the middle of the sea. Realizing what I just did, I took a deep breath and continued to paddle on. I was only 7 years old, alone and cold in the dark night sky. A deep mist of fog clogged the air, and I almost choked on the smell. Flashbacks filled my mind of the events that had happened. The truth is....I ran away from home....Noxus, a city filled with blood and war. Seeing my older brother, Kino, battle with another soldier before my eyes, he instructed me to escape and find my sister, who was in Piltover: the city of progress. The boat came to a sudden stop, waking me from my thoughts, as I climbed out and walked onto the muggy path. The sun was starting to rise as I spotted some enforcers in view. Creeping slowly into the quiet city, with a few people scattered setting up their stalls, I managed to find a quicker route into the building. As I walked through the wide corridors, I bumped into another girl, who looked the same age as me. "You're not supposed to be here" she warned me. "I know, I know, I've come to seek my sister. Her name is Mel, Mel Medarda" I replied, as she looked at me shocked. "I didn't know Councillor Medarda had a sister! Follow me. I'm Caitlin by the way" she introduced herself. "I'm Semona" I introduced back. Caitlin informed the guards that there was someone here to see Mel so they allowed me to come in. As I walked through the gold doors, I saw my sister sorting through some papers around a circular table. Caitlin cleared her throat as she looked up. "Ah Miss Kiramman, to what do I owe the pleasure?" She asked as I stepped out from the shadows. "Um it's nice to meet you Councillor Medarda. There's something I need to tell you" I replied, as she got up from her seat and I stepped closer. "I think you're my sister" I said, showing her my sun necklace that I got as a present from my brother. Mel gasped as she dropped to her knees and embraced me with a hug. "I didn't even know I had a sister" she replied, wiping a tear to her face. "Kino told me before I escaped from Noxus" I told Mel, as she cupped my face in her hands. "Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore. You must be hungry though. Let's get you something to eat!" She exclaimed. And that is how I met my sister, but it was only the beginning.
6 years later....
Sun rays of light hit my face as I stretched out my arms and put my hand over my mouth to cover my yawn. Mel came into the room and opened the curtains as I covered my eyes. "Ughhhhh, it's too bright in here!" I moaned as she laughed at me. "You've got to get ready for your first day at school" she replied, handing me a full bowl of breakfast. "Do I have to?" I asked, frowning as she placed her hand on my face. "You'll be fine" she reassured me. "Now get ready, I have a council meeting in 30 minutes" she continued as quickly packed my stuff for school.
After it hit 1pm in the afternoon, I ran out of the school and onto the busy streets. I crawled into the corner and started to cry, thinking back to what happened before....
"Ewww who is this girl?" One girl asked her friend. " I don't know, but she looks like she came from Zaun! I don't want her to touch me" another girl replied. A couple of other students came and pushed me into the corner and pulled my hair and inflicted several scratches on me.
I snapped out of my flashback again, as I overheard a couple of guards shouting. I looked over to see what was going on, as a girl with pink hair, another with blue hair, and two boys zoomed past me. A couple of enforcers were chasing them so I followed to see where they were going. As I passed round the corner, I saw them jump down a pipe, but as soon as I went to follow them, an enforcer stopped me in my tracks. "Where do you think you're going, young lady?", they questioned me. Looking around me, I spotted a guy stealing some valuable items. "Look, over there, he's stealing!" I warned, pointing at the man as he looked shocked. "Hey, stop right there!" One enforcer shouted as all of them chased after the thief, forgetting about me. "Good riddance. Now, how am I going to find those guys? I don't even know where they're from." I said to myself. As I walked back to the palace to meet my sister, I overheard two people talking about the incident. "Oh those people down there are so awful! I don't want to step anywhere near the Undercity" the two women replied, amongst themselves. I remember my brother telling me stories of the Undercity and the People of Zaun, and how it was a dark, gruesome place, but I had to see for myself. I quickly grabbed a dirty hoodie that was lying around and climbed down the pipe where I saw the two girls and two boys go down in.
After going through the pipe that left a trail of muck covering my face and going through the alleyway, I spotted them from afar going down into a lift, so after the lift came back up, I went down. The green coloured, murky city left me feeling a bit uneasy as I came out of the lift. The city was filled with people, dressed in dark clothing and masks on their faces, covering their scars. A eye-glowing neon sign, titled The Last Drop was in view so I secretly creeped into the shop after noticing they went in there. I crept into the room they went in and saw a big, tall guy talking to them.
The girl with the pink hair was frustrated and shouted back at the guy. After realising I made a mistake coming in, I accidentally stepped on a bottle as they all looked towards where the noise was coming. "Who's there? I can see you back there! You better come out or things are going to get worse!" The girl shouted, as I slowly stepped forward. "I'm sorry, please don't kill me, I don't want any trouble" I begged, with a tear falling down my face. "You shouldn't be in here, so you'd better crawl back to where you came from" the girl warned me, with a stern look on her face. "I know, I just got curious, so I followed you guys. I don't know if I can go back just yet. Is it ok if I stay for a little bit?" I asked, hoping she would accept. The blue-haired girl stepped in and asked the pink-haired girl, "Please Vi, can she stay?", as she put an arm round my shoulder. "Fine, whatever, but she can't stay here long" Vi replied, walking away. "Yessss, it's nice to meet you. I'm Powder, and this is Claggor and Mylo" she introduced, as they both waved at me. "Nice to meet you guys. I'm Semona!" I replied back. "Don't mind my sister, she get's like that with everyone" Powder reassured me and I smiled. The big, tall guy came into the room as he stopped in his tracks once he saw me. "Who's this?" He asked as I slowly stepped backwards, feeling a bit scared. "Vander, this is Semona! She's from Piltover. Is it ok if she stays for a little bit?" Powder asked, as Vander looked at me. "Sure, I actually need a set of extra hands to help my old friend, Benzo with something. Would you like to come with me and Claggor, Semona?" Vander asked me as I nodded my head. As Vander, Claggor and I came out of The Last Drop and headed into Benzo's shop, that's when I saw.....him.
