Angel P.O.V.
"Angie it's so good to see you again, sweetheart! My aunt Claire exclaimed to me in joy, she is my mom's youngest sister. Before Nonna took me in, she would look after me and Andrea when we were small children while helping Nonna get custody of me and Aaron at the time our mother left us with her, and never returned to get us. Everyone asks me if I harbor any resentment towards my mother to this day, I wouldn't say I have resentment or any ill-will towards my mother, it's just I wonder if she ever loved me more than she ever did than partying and drug-using. Aunt Claire offered to take me in after Nonna's passing but I knew she had a lot on her hands in taking care of her own family, besides Aaron's boss bought a house for us in the east side neighborhood so it works easier on both of us. "It's good to see you too, Aunt Claire." I hugged her tightly offering to come inside the house.
"Angel, you know you can come over anytime you want sweetheart. I know it gets very lonely by yourself at home but my crazy daughter over here can keep you company though. I laughed when she gave a glint in her eyes toward Andrea playfully. "Haha, hilarious mother you make me laugh so hard. Andrea replied sarcastically, plopping down next to me at the kitchen table. "Hon I have to go, I'm running late but you and Angie can watch tv or put on some VHS for you two to watch while I'm gone."
"And the little ones are upstairs sleeping, so you guys are good to yourselves." As she hurriedly grabbed the purse to head out the door. "Okay, mom later." Andrea puts on a VHS movie while we sat around watching movie after movie until she asked me a question that got me sitting up straight from the living room chair. Angie, I was thinking, instead of sitting here doing nothing, do you want to go to a party on the East Side tonight? Most of the kids at our school will be there since this is our last year in high school. And plus there's a guy at our school who is hosting it at his apartment in uptown, it'll be the time of our lives!"
"Oh yeah, sure, getting drunk and high for the sake of having "fun" sounds like a total blast." I finger-quoted the word fun sarcastically. "Besides, aren't we supposed to look after the little ones though." I asked her since she is watching her little brother and sister and should know that I don't like certain parties. "First of all Mr. Goody-Two shoes, the next-door neighbor can watch the little ones while we're out. Second, you need to get out of your comfort zone and experience something different than staying home every day, plus your brother isn't home to dictate where you are. It's time you spread your wings for once Angel, just give it a try then you will look back later in life and say 'I did it, and I went out and party my heart out.'
As much as I wanted to strongly disagree with her, she was right. I haven't done a single thing throughout my high school career, I was more of a wallflower who kept to myself and come straight home doing homework or just write stories to keep my mind busy while Aaron was out "working" as usual. Sooner or later I will be graduating soon then to college, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I sighed in defeat to give in to her request. "Okay, I'll go."Oh thank you, Angie you are the best."
"Thank you." Andrea thanked the driver and tipped the cab driver. "So this is where the party is hosted?" I asked while looking up at the extravagant apartment building, it looked more elegant and prosperous here than in my neighborhood. It looked more like a grand hotel than an apartment building. "Yep, this is the place now come on." She dragged me along heading inside the lobby to the elevator. When we got to the party, the music was blaring to "Hungry Like a Wolf" throughout the whole apartment while the party-goers from my school danced throughout each room, drinking alcohol, most of them snorting what seems to be a line of cocaine on each glass table. "Should we be here Andrea?" I made a statement to my question because I was getting uncomfortable being here. "What expect, this is a party Angie it's what kids do these days, you've been living under Nonna's thumb all your life."
That is not the case, I wasn't always under Nonna's thumb in my early years of life, before living with Nonna permanently, I was raised by my mother without the help of me and Aaron's father we never met due to her bringing different men around each and every night in our rundown apartment at the time. Not only have me and my brother experienced our mother's promiscuous ways but we came to experience her doing hardcore drugs in front of me and Aaron as small children and throwing parties with friends who were equally hardcore drug addicts and prostitutes alike. That's why I'm always wary when it comes to going into these types of get together per se.
"Hey, look at that." Andrea tapped on my shoulder pointing at the front door. Three black men that looked roughly around their mid-20s were hanging out with high school kids like us. "Aren't they a bit too old to be here?" I asked skeptically. "Yeah but they come at every high school party, club venue, you name it." For?" I gesture for more clarification on why they are really here. "To mainly sell coke and other hardcore shit like crack and all." She bluntly explained to me without feeling an ounce of concern for our safety. "Aren't you worried about this?" A couple of drug dealers selling drugs to underage kids like us." I asked her in a serious tone because we are clearly in a bad environment since we got here. I knew I should've stayed back at the house and not listened to my insane cousin.
"I think I should go, Andrea. This is a bit too much for me." But we just got here, the party is just getting started!" She slurred her words obnoxiously becoming drunk with alcohol in her hands. "I'm sorry An but this isn't my cup of tea here, you have friends here that you know of, so I'll see you tomorrow at school. Alright." "Alright, I see you tomorrow Angie." She sips into her red cup and walks over to her friends from school.
Leaving the apartment was a breath of fresh air, at least I have money for a cab to head home. Without looking I hit something broad without looking."Watch where you're going, man!" I looked up from the ground at three black men that I'd seen at the party selling drugs."Sorry about that, I wasn't looking."I was about to walk away when my left arm was yanked forcefully. "Hey since you apologized maybe we can give you a hit of coke since you white kids love it so much." The guy who is grabbing me by the arm was giving me a sinister grin on his face, something in his tone of voice was giving me a depraved mindset which gave me the chills and unsettlement in my stomach. "No thanks, I'll pass." I smiled politely trying to retwist the restraint to my arms but the guy wouldn't take no for an answer. "Hey, we're giving you a choice to either snort this shit up or suck us off like the fag you are!" The man aggressively yanked me closer to his face now.
His friends were no different while they stood beside each other instigating one another. "Bro, do you think fags like him like to suck every dude's cock when they come our way?" One of them laughs maniacally at their sick suggestion. "We could give it a try though." The leader of the group gave me a deprived smirk. I felt like I was on a verge of crying, I just want to go home! I don't want to be a part of their sick little games, so I closed my eyes and prayed. "Please God somebody help me!" I prayed in my head. "Yo, what the hell are you three doing!" I opened my eyes and turned my head to see where that voice belong to. "Yo Blitz man, we're trying to give whitey here some coke and you know how these white folks love this shit." The guy called "Blitz" looked in front of forgetting about what the other guy said.
" Then why are you grabbing his arms like that." He stated with a calm but authoritative tone, not leaving his gaze on me. "What did I tell you? If folks don't want to do this shit, then don't force them." He stated shortly. "So let him go." The guy manhandling me begrudgingly let me go freely. "Now go somewhere and make yourselves useful somewhere in the party." He orders them to go back to the party, probably going to sell that stuff to the kids at the party. "Are you okay?" I get a closer look at the man that saved me, and I have to say he was pretty cute. "Hey, are you good?" He looked at me softly with his dark brown eyes compared to the hard glare he had given to his friends earlier. "Huh, oh yeah thank you for saving me from those guys." I blushed hard from staring at him. "I think I saw you before, aren't you one of those kids attending the party?
"Yeah but I was about to head out anyways though, I have to catch a cab to get back home. But thanks again." I walked straight to the elevator until he caught my attention again. "Hey, if you want I can drive you home if you want?"
Hello everybody. Sorry that I disappeared for a while school has been keeping me very busy especially working all summer and not being consistent with writing due to the lack of creative ideas, but since I am off I promise I'll be more consistent and I have more ideas in store too.
