I felt the air getting thin in my sleep, making me wake up to Octavius laying almost on top of me. I tried to take a big breath before slowly wiggling out from underneath him. I sat up, itching the back of my shoulder before double taking. Octavius was still here.
He kept his promise.
Octavius hugged my pillow, as if to replace me. I quietly chuckled before stepping out of bed. Stretching my arms, I made my way towards the dresser. I slipped some socks on because these stupid floors were freezing. I should've talked my grandfather into heated flooring.
I quietly tiptoed out of the room and into the kitchen. I started the coffee maker and poured it into a mug. The sunrise barely showing itself yet. The light was slowly making the house orange, warming the place up. I walked upstairs into the loft, rubbing my eyes to wake myself up.
Sitting down in the chair, I cleared my desk to set my mug down before searching for the essay Peter gave me. I remember when he gave this to me.
I was back at my apartment, a month after Octavius was gone. I wasn't necessarily depressed, but I definitely looked the part. Most nights I cried, waiting for Octavius to miraculously show up. I would sleep in till the afternoon, and it scared MJ that I wasn't myself.
"Hey (Y/N), I've got a surprise for you." MJ spoke as she sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing my back.
I peered over my shoulder, "What?"
MJ smiled as she pulled papers out of her bag, handing them to me. "Peter wanted to give these to you. They were about Doctor Octavius before his incident."
I remember reading those papers over and over again, crying over the small details, and laughing over the jokes. Those papers, along with many other articles and books, saved me from falling into a depressive state.
But here I was, reading them once more. This time I wasn't just skimming. I was looking for the part where Octavius and Peter talked about the actuators. The part where Peter explains how the arms work and their engineering. I highlighted the portion in bright pink, writing notes on the sides of the paper.
I took a gulp of my coffee, looking for the book I was reading the other day. I found it on the floor, quickly picking it up. This one explained in greater depth the tools and expensive wiring that was needed to fix such a thing.
I was so deep into thought, I didn't notice Octavius wake up and make himself a cup of coffee. I put the essay with the book, shoving it in my bag. I stood up and leaned against the railing.
"Good morning." I spoke sweetly, enjoying this moment.
Octavius's hair was super curly and messy, and his clothes were a little wrinkled from him turning in his sleep. He looked up at me, his eye bags looked better than they did. His smile was warm and sweet. "Good morning, beautiful."
I propped my chin on the palm of my hand. "Sleep okay?"
Octavius sighed, stretching a little. "Best sleep I could've ever had, I believe."
I giggled as I walked down the stairs, meeting him in the kitchen. I stood next to him, one of his actuators pulling me in closer. Octavius snickered as he took a sip of his coffee. "Someone likes you."
I pat the top of, who I believe is Larry's, claw. "Well I would hope so." I peered over to Mo, seeing it watch me intently. I sighed, petting him too. "I think I need to head into town, buy you some new clothes and to get a couple groceries."
Octavius groaned, leaning closer to me. "Do you have to go?"
I giggled, butterflies hitting my stomach, "Yes I do. You can't wear my grandfather's clothes forever." I teased, poking the side of his stomach.
Octavius cocked an eyebrow up, "Are you teasing me?"
I bit the inside of my cheek, watching him set his mug down before he attacked me with tickles.
"No... No!" I spoke between laughs. A couple times I snorted laughing, causing Octavius to laugh with me. I tried to pull away, but the actuators held me in place.
Octavius finally stopped, letting me catch my breath. I looked up at him, realizing we were no more than a few inches apart. His arms were snaked around my lower back, and my hands were against his chest. I blushed a deep red, staring at his lips, then back at his eyes.
Octavius grinned, loving how flustered I looked. He had a faint blush against his cheeks. "(Y/N)?" He spoke deeply and that started the butterflies again.
I hummed, entranced by his whole demeanor. I absolutely loved this side of him.
Octavius searched my face, as if he was looking for an answer. I felt my whole body heat up, and not just from his personal warmth but from shyness. He was taller and more broad than I was. It was intimidating from the start.
I placed a hand on his cheek, smiling like a little school girl in love. "Otto?"
Octavius pushed my lower back closer to him, closing in the space. Before I could even prepare myself, Octavius kissed me. His lips were soft and sweet. I closed my eyes, wrapping my arms around his neck. He pulled away a couple seconds later.
"You have no idea how long I've been waiting to do that." He admitted, love filled eyes and smiling ear to ear.
I gently played with his hair, smiling as big as he was. "Can we do that again?"
Octavius chuckled, pulling me in again. This kiss was so much better than the first. Fireworks happening in my abdomen. My head felt light as his tongue slipped into my mouth. Our tongues tangoed, the taste of coffee was overpowering. I stepped on my tiptoes, smiling into the kiss. Octavius bent down a little, helping me to not break my back trying to lift myself up. His hands were on either side of my waist, trailing up and down. My hands were gripping his hair.
I pulled away, catching my breath. Octavius watched me with eyes that no man has ever shown me. He didn't let go of me either. I placed my forehead on his chest, giggling.
"What are you laughing at?" Octavius chuckled, confused at me.
I shook my head, giving him a tight hug. "You're a good kisser." I laughed again, embarrassing myself once more.
Octavius laughed, using one hand to take a sip of his coffee afterwards. "Why thank you dear."
I lifted my head and lightly smacked his arm. "Yeah (Y/N), you're pretty good too. Am I that bad?"
Octavius sat his mug down again, laughing at the situation. "No, you're a good kisser. You are just so easy to tease." He tapped my nose before taking care of his mug.
I scratched my back, blushing even more than I was. "Am not!" I walked towards the bedroom. "I'm gonna get dressed now!" I shut the door behind me, "AND I AM NOT EASILY TEASED!"
I heard Octavius laugh to himself. I rolled my eyes before touching my lips, smiling like a big idiot. I finally got to experience a moment like that with him. And boy did it make me the happiest girl in the world.
