The bell rang. Alex stood, gathering her things. She ignored the chatter of the classroom and walked out the door, heading streight for her locker. She opened it, stuffing the unnecessary stuff into it. She closed the locker door, almost screaming when she saw a boy with long blonde hair leaning against the locker next to her. Zach.
Alex scowled, making an effort not to punch him in the face. "What the hell do you want?" Alex asked quietly. Zach smirked. "Looks like the little girls got bite." He said. A few of his buddies moved to either side of him, blocking her way.
Alex started to panick a little. Where's Mack when I need her!? Alex took a deep breath, hiding her panick well. "Are you here to beat me up? Cuz if you are, I assure you, you will each have a broken nose." Alex said strongly.
There was now a crowd forming around them, whispering to each other and pointing. Zach's smirk grew wider. "We'll see about that." He said with a wicked grin. He exchanged a glance with his buddies, and at once, the dove for her.
Alex dodged to the side, avoiding the grabbing hands of the three boys. She spun around and punched one of them in the nose, causing blood to trickle down his face. At the same time another grabbed her arms, dragging her away from him. She yelled and fought to free her self, which was no use. Zach laughed, his face coming inches away from her. "Not so tough now are you?" He asked.
Zach pulled his arm back, his fingers curled into a fist. Alex closed her eyes. The puch never came. A boy had Zach pinned on the ground, his blonde hair sticking up in every direction. His lip was bloody. The kid restraining her let go, attempting to help Zach, but before he could take a step, Alex elbowed him in the gut.
The crowd was screaming and chanting. Alex's arms stung from where the boy had dug his nails into her to keep her from escaping. The boy stood, one foot still on Zach's chest. He turned to face her, a bruise already visible along his jaw. He was tall with messy brown hair and green eyes.
"Thanks." Alex said, still looking down at Zach. The boy held out his hand. "I'm Chase." He said with a smile. "Alex." She said, shaking his hand breifly and smiling. Alex picked up her backpack, which she had dropped in the fight and started down the hallway, feeling the eyes of everyone fixed on her.
"Hey!" Chase called behind her. Alex turned. "I'll see you around right?" Alex nodded.
