Chapter 16
~ Intrusion ~

Eli ran a hand through his hair, downing another glass of water and carefully looking through stacks of paper work. He scoffed, he was the head of a fucking Mafia and he was stuck here doing paperwork.

As much as he despised the thought of admitting it, Matteo was right. Matteo had been right the day he came to his house and he was right the night Eli almost fucked him up at Kaito's party. He was right.

Eli's father had been asking questions. Stupid fucking questions.

Sometimes he thought about how much easier life would be if parents didn't exist. His life would definitely be so much fucking easier.

It's not like Eli liked his father. Eli hated him, with very bone in his body. He truly didn't think he hated anyone more than he hated his father, with the exception of those guys that jumped Anna in an abandoned alleyway but that was an exception; they were dead, didn't exist anymore so they didn't count.

If Eli could completely control the situation, his father would be dead for all the hell he put him through, for all the hell he put his mother through.

But Eli couldn't kill him; not yet.

"Fuck"

As soon as Eli's father found out about Anna, it would be hard for them both. His father was known for destroying. Every good thing Eli had ever had in life had been taken away from him by his father, with the exception of Jules and Matteo of course.

But Eli valued Anna more than anything, more than his own life even. He was scared- and he had never been scared of anything- at the possibility that Anna could be taken away from him. He didn't know how he lived without her before but now that he did have her he wasn't planning on letting her go.

The business had been going slow due to Eli's nonchalancy. First it was random holes in security, and lately there had been countless rats from the inside, relaying personal information unto their enemies, something that wouldn't happen if Elias didn't spend every second of his day thinking about her.

Then their supplies had begun to be tampered with, and although there were multiple reports being made to Eli about them, he didn't feel like solving the problem. He didn't care that much honestly.

And since things weren't going smoothly, somehow somewhere, his father had found out. Now usually this wouldn't be a problem, because Markos knew his son. When Elias put his mind to something he did it, and if anyone crossed him they would be dead in a heartbeat, he knew his son, he raised him that way, made him that way.

So when Markos heard about the holes in their system, the first thing that came to mind was his son was slacking, very obviously slacking and he didn't even care enough to hide that.

As soon as Matteo told Eli all this he knew he was fucked. Elias hadn't seen nor directly heard from his father in damn near three years, and now because of some minor bullshit- as he called it- his father was going to be back in his life, something he did not want.

He had already seen to the issues, and they were closed off but that didn't budge his father, he knew there was something wrong and so he wanted to see to it that everything was fine again and according to Matteo, he hoped to be seeing Eli very soon.

And that's why Eli sat there, a letter in hand, as he constantly resisted the urge to crumple it up and throw it away.

His father had written him a letter, a fucking letter. He didn't want to open it and he sure as hell had no intentions of reading it.

His father was dead to him and if not for the mafia, he wouldn't even have the time nor energy to entertain thoughts that concerned his father.

Eli took deep breaths to constrain himself. He didn't know what to do. He knew his father was trying to ease his way back into his life but he didn't want that, he would do anything to prevent it.
