me and namjoon began walking to the shop together, we knew this journey would be long and knew the risks we faced going out as just the two of us without a van or something of that sort

this led us to be on edge at every noise which is extremely exhausting

although we were worried about our own safety, i knew the both of us were far more worried for the others

yes they had a van yet it didn't work and they were out here all night with no way to get in touch with us

the walk was silent until namjoon broke it

namjoon-"i know a short cut that could get us there in twenty minutes compared to the over an hour walk we would have to do, but it's through the woods"

the woods was far more dangerous, we both knew it, but we also knew the sooner we get to get others the better

it was a risk we were willing to take for them

me-"let's do it" i said with as much confidence as i could muster

and with that, i let namjoon lead the way and we began to walk down an overgrown dirt path

'i have a bad feeling about this' i thought to myself the further we went in, but it was too late now, we had already set off

walking through the woods was a gamble, you could come out completely fine, or you could never come out again. unfortunately, similarly to gambling, the odds are often stacked against you

the floor is covered in twigs and branches which let out a snap as you walk on them which could alert the gruesome creatures to our presence

the large trees and thick bushes that dotted the woods were perfect places to hide, however it's not just humans that can hide behind them

as many of those creatures are decaying inside, the bones aren't strong allowing them to twist and turn into themselves which helps them hide behind even the smallest bush

the worst part in my opinion though is how the tree tops block the light coming through

sure you get the odd ray of sunshine dancing it's way to the woodland floor, however most of the time all you see is the gloomy dark woods

even if one of those creatures was hiding rather terribly, there is a chance you wouldn't even notice them until you heard their murmurs

that's why we have to be on high alert, constantly listening, constantly watching

they could be anywhere, patiently waiting to kill us and eat our flesh and brains as though we were slices of meat bought at a shop

'the sooner we get to the boys, the better' i repeated in my head as an attempt to comfort myself

namjoon and i both unconsciously knew we couldn't speak to each other, we could barely even whisper as it was safer just to silently walk together

that's why when he stopped and told me to listen i felt my gut drop and dread overcome me

we remained there for a moment, silent, listening to the sound of the woods until i finally heard it

a sort of gurgling noise

we turned around to see a zombie creeping towards us missing an arm and seemingly coughing up blood that dripped slowly down its chin

me-"shit" i muttered under my breath as i clutched the kitchen knife i had taken with me on my travels

namjoon-"quietly" he whispered frantically to me, reminding me that silence was imperative when in the woods

not only did i have to kill a zombie, but i had to do it so quietly as to not alert any others lurking throughout the woods

before i had time to think more into this predicament, it lunged towards me, reaching its intact arm towards my face

i swung my knife at its torso, practically slicing the decaying monster in half

to my horror, it's corpse hit the floor with a loud thud, snapping a plethora of branches on the way

before i could even think, namjoon grabbed my arm and yanked me to begin running with him

and so we sprinted through the woods

we sprinted like our lives depended on it, because they did

namjoon-"so much for being quiet" he stated breathlessly while continuing to run

if i weren't so terrified, i think i would have laughed

namjoon and i ran for what felt like eternity, although i doubted it could have been for more than a few minutes

my stomach was starting to cramp up because of how fast we ran but seeing a small opening seemed to give me and namjoon the motivation to carry o

me-"thank god!" i panted out once me and namjoon had made it out of those woods and reached the shop

i kept my head low as i held my knees, trying everything in my power to get my breath back

i could see namjoon stand up straight from the corner of my eye, seemingly having caught his breath

namjoon-"jimin..." he said in a serious tone causing my heart to begin to sink

me-"yeah?" i asked as i looked up towards him

he didn't respond, only stared

i followed his line of sight and was horrified

i'm really sorry i haven't updated in a while guys but i'm getting back into it now, also do you mind if i change the grammar style a little (e.g. use full stops at the end of sentence and use capital letters), i started this story like 4 years ago and i now cringe at my old use of grammar when i was doing my read over for the chapters haha.
also if i have any of my og readers here i was thinking of properly writing this book but from an older y/n as most of us have grown up a lot haha (ik i semi-starred to do that but id go back re-write and give it its own story line yk)
