Before

Running.

His breath got caught to his throat.
He didn't stop.
He shouldn't stop.
He couldn't do so.

Hours before, his lover's lips were upon his own, the cherry taste never forgotten.

How could he not see this?
How could he not know?

Oh how much he loved him.
Oh how selfish was he to not see that coming?

He should have known he had such thoughts.

If only he wasn't so self centered and made everything about himself, nothing would be like that.
But of course, he always had to feel insecure, to starve, to seek for attention.
If he ever did it for attention, at least that's what Hyunjin's brain has made him believe as he was running towards the highway.

He was almost there when he saw a dark oddly familiar figure in the middle of the road, his movements stopping brutally.

His eyes widened, he was just in time.
A black car was running at an unholy speed towards them, never slowing down.

Hyunjin's life flashed before his eyes, every memory about his life with Chan. His legs didn't seem to move, they only did seconds before the so expected crash.

He run.
He run to give life another chance.
He run to give meaning to his life even if it ended.

"Chan!"

And the so inevitable crash happened.
And blood flew freely on the dusty road.

He did whatever he could, yet it still happened and his tears never came to a stop as a bitter expression covered his face, screams from people never reaching his own ears.

Author:
As a person with many health issues, I was told many times my life would end and then it didn't.
In this story the topic of cancer is mentioned briefly.
Just like my other story, which I wrote inspired by my health issue, I want to portray life with cancer, either being a fighter, a survivor, a "lost case' or a loved one who had to experience the grief of losing someone to cancer.

Cancer is a life lesson... even if someone survives or not.

Life with poor health can be hell, but there are times that resemble paradise.

EDIT 2023:

Hello, this is Ivy.
As I've promised to my late best friend after taking my time to deal with her loss I am uploading her edited chapters the way she asked me to.

Unfortunately, this story wasn't finished before she died leaving me behind to continue the plot as she wished for me to do. I've tried to match my writing style with hers but the change is visible in certain parts.

I hope you'll (re)read this story the way she wants it to be captured.

Thank you.
