"Oh good answer." Katherine said and turned away from the extremely attractive boy who was flirting with her.
"Hey it ain't even supper time!" He said protesting as she turned away.
"I'll see you in the morning." She said slightly distracted by what she was scribbling on her note pad. She herd him groan a little at her hasty departure, she was a little annoyed at this guy, all he'd been doing was flirting with her.
"Hey Plumber!" He called, she turned to look at him, "write it good, we both got a lot riding on you." He said gesturing to her notebook.
"And I could say the same for you, don't screw it up Jack." She said smartly.
"Yea don't get ya hopes up." Jack muttered and shoved his hands in his pockets. She was going to leave then but his words struck her, was Jack Kelly really say what she thought he was saying?
"Did you just say what I thought you said? Is the great Jack Kelly nervous about the day to come?" She asked walking up to him again.
"I never said that. I already told you I ain't scared." He said all traces of his weariness only moments ago seemed to have vanished.
"So your not scared, got that. Then why did you say don't get your hopes up? Seems to me your not sure, or more accurately your nervous." She couldn't help herself, she was a reporter she had to ask those kinds of questions. It was in her nature.
"Well, wouldn't you be? Wouldn't you be nervous to take on someone like Joseph Pulitzer?" He asked coming closer to her.
"So you are." She said reaching for her pen again.
"Youse sure ask a lot of questions." He said, he was close enough she could smell him. The rich smell of newspaper and a hit of what smelt like wet paint. She kind of liked it.
"Well, I am a reporter." She said writing in her notebook.
"Yea that, or ya asking a lot of questions because ya want ta spend a little more time with me perhaps." He said and flashed her a breath taking smile. There he was again, flirting with her.
"I'm sure that's not it." She said giving him a glare. She was a little peeved at this Jack Kelly. She hardly knew him and he was flirting shamelessly with her.
"Aw come on Katherine." He said, in that instant his eyes locked with hers, they were a bright blue. They were open and very, very inviting, she felt her legs turn to led. "If you want to spend time with me then-" his hand came up to her shoulder "-all you have to do is ask." She watched his hand slowly trail down her arm. She shuttered involuntarily at the way his hand gently squeezed her arm. He stepped closer to her and she felt herself go light headed, he smelt so good and he looked so good.
"Jack." She said warningly, tho she could not deny the butterflies that flapped dully in her stomach as she caught the double meaning to his words.
"Why are you so beautiful?" Jack asked coming even closer to her. His words made her heart flutter and her head even more light headed, what was he doing to her? Surly his presence couldn't make her feel like this. It was dark where they stood in the street, nothing in site but a lamp a couple of yards away that lit Jacks face up making him look like some Greek god. He was saying something but she couldn't quite understand because his hand had slipped on to her hip she knew he was saying something because his lips were moving, she just couldn't hear. His lips... oh those lips she had a sudden urge to touch them to see if they felt as soft as they looked. She was literally drunk on him. Stop it Katherine! A small part of her brain yelled at her pull yourself together, step away. She knew it was right and she should push him away from her, it wasn't right he shouldn't be this close, but she liked having him so near her. She liked the way he was so close she could see the stitching in his blue shirt, she (dare she say) liked the way his hand was now slipping over her hip and up her back. A stupid, rational, hopeful thought struck her your apartment is only three blocks away the non-smart part of her brain told her take him there before he takes you some where else! Her eyes found his and she felt an overwhelming sense of want as his inviting eyes met hers. As if acting on their own accord her hands came up and pressed themselves against his hard chest, she felt something start to burn in her chest, like a raging fire of want and need of this Jack Kelly standing so close to her. She knew exactly what he was wanting and part of her wanted the same thing, so why not give him what he wanted? Why give him what he wants? The small part of her brain asked will that solve any of yours or their problems? No, it wouldn't but it sure would solve the luscious burn that was spreading over her body. It all seemed to be happening so quickly, a few moments ago she had been dusting off his comments like no other. Now look at her, completely and utterly under his spell.
"I think I want you." She whispered in his ear as she pressed herself to him. He smirked and his other arm snaked around her waist her, hands slipped up his chest and wrapped themselves around his neck. With a smirk still on his lips he gently kissed just under her jaw, her eyes fluttered closed as her earlier thoughts were confirmed, his lips really were as soft as they looked. Either she got really excited or Jack did she wasn't sure because soon enough she was being pressed ruffly against a near wall, Jacks lips moved down her neck as his hands ran up and down her waist. She pulled his head back so she could crash her lips to his, oh did that boy know how to kiss! She couldn't believe what she was about to let him do, but like she said she was drunk on his presence. She wouldn't of been able to stop even if she wanted to.

Katherine had never been the kind of girl to obsess over a boy, that had been her older sisters job. She had always hated the way she would squeal into a pillow when they so much as talked about a certain man. So when she woke up the next morning tangled in her bed sheets she hadn't expected to have the urge to scream into a pillow. It was weird because she shouldn't want to do that, she should want to chuck the pillow at the handsome guy who'd stayed the night. She had expected that he would leave before she woke up, she'd guessed that (and she was right) but she hadn't guessed he'd leave a note. Reading the note was what made her fangirl over the infamous Jack Kelly. In not-so-neat handwriting he had written on a paper from her typewriter the following words:
Katherine Plumber-
You are so amazing. Thanks for letting me stay with you but I had ta leave early cuz my boys need me. It's gonna be a long day, good luck on your article. We both got a lot riding on you. See ya on the front page.
-JackKatherine felt stupid for blushing at a piece of paper but she couldn't help it, he'd called her amazing. Maybe she was kidding herself but she thought he was pretty amazing too. She was slightly peeved at him tho, he'd made her waste an entire night she could have been working on the article that was due the next day! No pressure! She should have been getting up and getting dressed but she didn't want too, she didn't want the layer of bliss that seemed to hover over her body to leave. The sun was just breaking into her room so she clutched her sheets and rolled over to the other side of her bed bringing the sheets over her head. Oh gosh, the sheets even smell like him she thought. She grinned and curled her fingers around the fabric and breathed in his scent, newspapers and paint. It was so fresh and mouthwatering, she wanted to lay their clutching that pillow forever. But alas, she really needed to start on the article it could be a big career jump for her and she didn't want to screw it up. The last thing she wants it to end up jobless and have to turn to her father. Her mouth goes dry at the thought of her father, she'd just slept with the leader of the strike against him. If he knew... no he couldn't ever know. Jack especially couldn't know who her father was that would just complicate things. The last thing she wanted was her father to know she'd opened her legs for Jack Kelly. Bad bad, idea. With a loud, indignant sigh she flung the sheets off her and got dressed. Soon she was fully dressed and sitting at her type writer. Write! Right... she had no idea what to write. NO CLUE! It shouldn't be that hard, ugh! She had no clue what to do! Was she insane? She'd been waiting for this! Now was her chance to show thoes sexist at The Sun she was just as good as any man at writing an article! What made it worse was her mind kept wandering to that handsome, heroically, charismatic, plain spoken, no-nothing! Skirt chasing! Cocky little SON OF A...! Woah she needed to calm down. She channeled her emotions into her fingers willing them to cooperate and write what what she knew. She was confused about Jack, a small part of her felt guilty for what she'd allowed the night before, but the rest of her was like "wow, girl you got it good!" She was conflicted. The only way she knew to keep her mind away from him was to write, it didn't help when she was writing about him but still... as she finished she sighed and admired her work. Those boys were gonna make the front page!
