"What's da matta with you?" Race asked Jack as he walked up to the group of boys.

"Yea he's smiling, no, he's grinning! What ya do Jack? Find a million bucks?" Mush asked slapping him on the back.

"Better than a million bucks." Jack said his thoughts drifting back to a certain reporter. He still couldn't believe his luck, he had thought Katherine would surely push him away and make him go home, he was glad she hadn't. He had always had a way with girls, say the right things, touch in just the right places.... Jack had it down to a science, but there was something about that Katherine Plumber, she wasn't like other girls. She was so... original, so spunky and bold he really liked her. Making himself get out of her bed that morning definitely did not make his top 10 favorite things. To be honest he felt kinda bad for leaving her while she slept, usually he didn't think twice about the girls he slept with but she, she was different and he couldn't get her out of his mind. He thought back to the night before when she had been interviewing him for her article, she had been so smart and witty it made his knees weak to even think about how good she was. He remembered getting close to her and smelling her, she smelt good, like ink and apples. He remembered watching her eyes practically glaze over as he had ran his hand down her arm, telling her things... that was the part he felt a little more guilty about. It wasn't like he could help his charm and attractiveness, what could he say? It was a curse. But he still felt slightly bad about taking advantage of her, had he taken advantage? Her exact words were I think I want you that shouldn't make him guilty should it? Usually he could get to a girl with a few words and a smile but Katherine had been different, he'd already tried twice and failed. Only getting to her the third time with a little urging and sheer luck. Thank goodness she'd let him between her legs last night, he'd had a ruff day and she had chased the feeling he might fail away. He wished he was back with her under those Apple smelling covers her body pressed against his, he could think of a lot more things he could be doing right now then starting a strike but he needed to focus. He needed to push Katherine Plumber out of his mind. For now. She was a reporter, he was a Newsies it wouldn't work she'd opened her legs because he knew how to turn a girl on, not because she felt like there might be something. He needed to get real and yet... that possibility of her being with him nagged at the back of his mind as the Newsies gathered around the square preparing to stop the wagons. He needed to focus, he'd talk to her later, but now he needed to win a strike.
