"and the fee?" ushijima deadpanned. disappointment evident on the girl's face as he failed to give her an amused look. her past client's faces would usually brighten up as she introduced them her great idea. but for ushiwaka's case, he was unfazed.

"it's usually five dollars for each course but for you it's four because i want your chair."

"my chair?" he asked completely nonplussed.

"yeah. i've been struggling to see the board for the whole year now because all i see is your back." she complained.

"so you want to switch seats is what you mean?" he clarified.

"yep." her head bobbing in agreement.

"okay."

"cool... goshiki y/n, nice to finally meet you (though we've been assigned to the same rooms for six damn years.)" y/n extended her arms to the young man with a wide grin, speaking quietly the last part of her sentence.

"ushijima wakatoshi." he introduced himself as he received to shake her hand. it was a short contact but he remembers that they were soft and slightly cold, too small compared to his large callused ones.

as they were finally seated again, y/n started, "so for our first course, probably the quickest one to end, would be 'to recognize',"

"we need to recognize these feelings first before taking action as it would only be tragic in the future if we find out that you don't like her that way or actually aren't committed." her tone changing as she explained.

ushijima was wondering what it could've meant when his attention was called back again, "so, ushijima-san," y/n's serious demeanor shifting to a rather teasing one.

"what do you like about oikawa-san, why do you like her, and when did these feelings start?" she questioned and she saw that he was hesitant to answer her.

"everything we'll be discussing here will be highly confidential and i would 'cross my heart hope to die' never spill your beans." she promised, crossing her heart and raising her hand.

"i suppose it's because of her skill, or her smile." wakatoshi spoke honestly as a hint of pink dusted across his face.

"i see... but what about her?" she asked making him confused. didn't he just say what he liked about ayaka? did she not hear?

"'you have to look at the whole landscape.'" she stated, hoping for him to get a clue but he remained staring at her in confusion.

"seriously? you've never read 'flipped' before? that's like the cutest book i've ever read. one of my favorites actually." y/n smiled at the thought of bryce and juli.

"you wait here." she ordered, dashing towards the towers of books before he could even reply. three minutes later, she came back with a book which seemed to have a chick that was standing upside down on its cover.

flipping over the pages as though she's known this book from cover to cover, her face lit up as she finally saw the chapter she was looking for.

"here, in the chapter 'juli: the sycamore tree'" she read, "'A painting is more than the sum of its parts,'"

"'the cow by itself is just a cow, and the meadow by itself is just grass and flowers, and the sun peeking through the trees is just a beam of light, but put them all together and you've got magic.'" by time y/n finished reading, ushijima's mind jambled.

cows? meadows? what does that have to do with anything? how could a cow even produce magic? could it be that y/n didn't know what she was doing at all? or was she just boasting her knowledge about stupid books in this old library?

he wouldn't really know, unless he'll try.
