murmurs was soon silenced when their teacher arrived. y/n always thought of literature as an interesting subject. as one who enjoys reading, she liked the thought of studying someone's work and knowing the meaning behind the writings. literature isn't ushijima's strong suit on the other hand. as a man of few words, reading long articles bored him and prefers to see the action instead.

he didn't know where the teacher was going with his lecture until he ended it with a declaration that slightly caused a commotion inside the room. "now for this quarter's project that will contribute 50% to your grade, you will have to make a report on one of the classic english literatures as assigned to you and your pair."

now when the teacher says to do the work by pair, there are only two reactions that they'll get from the students; they're either happy or disappointed. "i've already paired all of you randomly so just check the list on the board for your partners, the schedule for your report is also there along with the title assigned to you. reporting will start next week, good luck." the room's reaction was mixed. some groaned when they found out their schedule's earlier than expected while some cheered after being paired with their friends. the room grew loud as some started making arrangements for their projects.

ushijima also couldn't help but check the list. much to his disappointment, he was paired with a certain nosy little fella who looked as disappointed as him. "pride and prejudice" was written under their names along with a date two weeks later that day.

"seems like you'll have to deal with me a little longer now." y/n spoke as she faced the guy.

"how unlucky of me indeed." he said.

"hey! i'm the unlucky one here, you're flunking in literature as far as i've remembered." she argued wondering where he got all that sass from.

"let's say we're fair then." ushijima concedes as they start walking to the back of the room.

"yeah, yeah, i won't go easy on you anyway. i do anything for my grades." she says.

while wakatoshi entered shiratorizawa because of his exceptional talent for volleyball, y/n went in out of pure intellect. as weird as she may seem, she's pretty smart for a person who aspires to open a love club. she might look like someone who has nothing to do with her life, but her report card will tell you otherwise.

"have you read pride and prejudice?" she asked sitting on her new chair, facing backwards.

"no." he answered plainly.

"well you should start reading it, it's a tad bit hard to understand but it's interesting," y/n suggested.

"also, we should plan when and where we'll have to work on this, and that is if your schedule allows you." she emphasized "if" as though she doubted he'd even help with the project, just like many other partners she had.

"i'm only available on sundays, as i typically return home for the weekend." wakatoshi admitted.

dreading the idea of spending her weekly film viewing day over a literature prject, she suggested a better idea. "well, we can always make room during our tutoring. let's just move the lessons after this project is finished, how about that?"

"no can do." he flatly answered. as a man who gets a little bit uncomfortable with schedules changing, he doesn't like the idea. plus, he really needs those lessons as fast as possible before a knight in shining footballs gears sweeps ayaka off her feet, which would not make ushijima too happy.

"fine. sunday then." y/n submitted.

there goes her peaceful alone time, slowly walking into oblivion.
