silence was her favorite sound.

she loved the comfort of nothing being uttered, of nothing moving, of nothing breathing. it feels as though you're basking yourself into a long moment of serenity.

silence makes her feel like the world paused in midst of its chaos; as if there are no fights, no disagreements, no rules, no superiority, no inferiority, no ranks. as if it wants to put an end to that — and ease the endless wars that are going on in your mind.

but there's specifically something special about silence at night; like it's loneliness wrapped in a dark gown, dancing across your room, holding your hand and guiding you through the tranquility.

but as peaceful as the quietude is, it's also absolutely terrifying.

there's a certain suspense lingering in the air as it's awaiting a bang to interrupt the moment. you're fearing that the silence is betraying you and will sacrifice you as a prey to hunters.

hunters that want to catch you off guard, hunters that wait for you to be vulnerable, hunters that want to strike you once and take everything away.

but that was the exciting thing about it – the unknown, the anticipation, the hiding, the running.

and right now, she's an open prey tiptoeing her way through the castle at night, the silence around her was relaxing and tensing her at the same time as she was trying to make her way to her lover's room.

her lover.

ever since she left the garden shed, her mind was playing a specific moment on loop — it's a soaked drawing on her mind, not leaving her thoughts.

"fuck that." he spat out, grinding even harsher. "i'd rather suffer for an eternity for loving you than have never known you at all."

loving you.

he never said that out loud, they never said it out loud. they never labeled what they have as love — they never gave it a name. both of them were aware of the feelings they carry for each other yet giving it a name felt.. too real.

like their caresses on each other's bodies went deeper than they thought — like the caresses on each other's bodies meant caressing each other's soul along with it.

was that true? was he truly in love with her? or was he talking in the heat of the moment?

when her eyes finally caught a glimpse of his door, she bit down her bottom lip in excitement and walked slightly faster towards it.

she knocked on it three times with slow pauses in between, it was some sort of secret language they adapted to themselves to make it known that it's her on the other side of the door.

after a couple beats passed, she cautiously opened the door and saw him standing there with a wide smile stretched over his face.

"princess." he whispered, tangling one of his hands in her hair and pushed the door close with the other one. as soon as it shut, he pulled her closer to press a lingering kiss on her lips.

she smiled into it so brightly that he kept pecking her lips until she started giggling.

his hands ended up cupping both of her cheeks, his thumb drew comforting circles on her skin as he pulled away. "i missed you."

the way she smiled up at him made her cheeks hurt and dimples curve. "you saw me some hours ago."

"mhm." he hummed, looking her face up and down as if he wanted it engraved on his brain. "well, then, time seems to be passing by slowly if you aren't around."
