Noah's POV-
"Who is it?" Kyle asked getting up to see the contact on my phone.
"Spam." I said shutting my phone off and retreating back into his arms.
I know that he knows it wasn't spam but until he mentions it I'll just pretend he doesn't.
Honestly, I prefer doing things that way. It's not that I'm bad at communication it's more that I'm bad at confrontation. I'd rather just let things float into the air and disappear.
Unfortunately for me, Luke isn't like that apparently.
"So you have spam labeled as 'Mom's asshole ex-husband'?"
"...You don't?" I asked hoping to play it off.
"Andrew you should probably see what he wants."
"He wants me to come home and cut you off. I feel it. I feel in my bones he wants to make some dumbass complaint about what we have."
"You don't know that." Luke challenged.
"Why are you pushing this?" I questioned.
If I said I don't wanna answer shouldn't he be happy I'm ignoring that asshole. That I don't want to speak to him after what he said to us.
"I just don't want to find out something bad happened to your father and you end up blaming yourself for not answering the phone... since you have a thing for saying things are your fault whenever anything goes wrong." He said softly.
For a few moments I was silent. I really wanted to hold my ground but I could tell Kyle just didn't want to risk the chance of me drowning in self-hate if anything happened to my dad. So being the big softy I am, I sighed really loud, gave in, and called my dad back.
It ringed once.
Twice.
Three times and then,
"I see you've decided to finally call me back after almost 10 years."
"It's been no more than an hour, what drugs are you on?"
Jesus this man is so dramatic. Now I know where I get it from...
"Are you still at his house or did you go back to your mothers?" My asshole of a father asked, avoiding using Kyle's name.
"I'm at Kyle's house. Why are you asking." I said more as a statement than a question.
"I just hope you know I don't support or approve of this." He let his voice ring with distaste.
"Look at me not giving a fuck."
Dear Lord why did I agree to calling him back again? Oh that's right. Because Luke made the great point that if anything did happen to my dad, no matter how much I dislike this man, I'd break down and completely blame myself for whatever happened to him because I wouldn't pick up the phone.
"He is just like them! "
"He is the finest man I have ever laid eyes on- like damn!"
I purposely let my words string out just to piss my dad off.
I look over to see Kyle's ears tinted pink and a cocky smirk playing on his face.
"Oh dad I hate to go but I-I th-think, krr, the phone is b-break-king, krr, up." I tried to make it sound believable even though I just know it sounded like a bunch of a bullshit and hung up the phone before he could argue.
I sighed and threw my phone to side, praying no one else calls me for the rest of the night so I can just enjoy being with Kyle. Speaking of the Devil, I felt his arms wrap around my waist because apparently he's the Flash with how fast he got over here.
"The finest man you've ever laid eyes on huh?" He asked playfully.
I rolled my eyes but admitted,
"Abso-fucking-lutely."
