Day 16 in Newtopia.
It has been a few days since Andrias had visited the library. Waiting for 4 days and still nothing. Maybe he forgot about the tea party? A king obviously has lots of obligations to attend to, so maybe he was just busy? Or maybe he didn't really mean it in the first place? What if he only said that to be polite?
Cassidy couldn't help but overthink as she was watering the plants in the library. After all those years of being overlooked and underestimated, she managed to catch the eye of the most powerful person in the whole kingdom. The thought of being potentially rejected or pushed aside again... She couldn't bear it.
She went back to reality as Olivia opened the door and stepped into the library, holding a bouquet of sweetpeas and zinnias with a card inside. Cass put the watering can down, grinning.
"Awww, Liv! You shouldn't have!"
"Lady Olivia.", the other newt quickly corrected her and gave her the flowers, "And this is from the king."
The librarian smelled the bouquet, her tail lightly wagging. What a lovely smell, gorgeous colors too! She read the note then, excited. Finally, an invite to have tea with him! She squealed in delight, not able to keep her joy to herself.
There it was. Her golden opportunity.
"Guess who's having tea with His Highness? This girl!"
"Congratulations I suppose.", Olivia replied, clearly not impressed, before blinking in surprise, "...Tell me, what did you plan on wearing?"
"...What I'm currently wearing?", Cassidy answered, slowly getting embarrassed. Great, what she needed right now was to be reminded of her Frog awful clothes. The royal advisor walked around her, like checking every single stitch on her dress.
"I am not letting you meet with him dressed like that. How much time do we have?"
The librarian glanced at the clock, "15 minutes, why-"
She was promptly interrupted when Olivia took her hand to pull her into the hallway.
"Should be enough. Come this way.", she replied as she brought her to a room in the more private parts of the palace. She opened the door, letting Cass in. It was a beautiful bedroom, with fancy, well, everything. The door in the corner probably led to a bathroom. There also was a pink curtain, maybe some kind of closet? Cassidy started to look at every single detail, from the carpet to the curtains to the bed, everything was gorgeous. Olivia pulled on the pink curtain, revealing a big dressing room filled with gowns, each more beautiful than the next.
"Oh my Frog.", Cassidy mumbled, her tail wagging, "This is amazing!"
"Yes, yes, I know.", the advisor replied and looked at a few dresses, like not sure which one to pick. She settled on a lavender pinafore, a cream shirt to go underneath, and a matching hat and gave them to the other woman.
"Here, put this on.", she said as she left the dressing room and closed the curtain. Cassidy started to change clothes, excited, before looking at herself in the mirror. She absolutely loved the woman she saw in that reflection. Elegant, pretty... The woman she wanted to be so bad.
