CW : suggestive language, sex toy

"I got you something Cassidy, hope you like it."

"Oh my, you shouldn't have!"

The two lovers were having one of their library rendezvous, Andrias sitting on the ground while Cassidy was sitting on a table. They'd often spend time together this way. He'd bring her flowers, she'd make tea, and they'd talk about books and whatnot. She was opening the box, laughing at the sight of her present.

"A new toy? Really? Your Highness, you're nasty!"

"You said you wanted to expand your collection. So here you go.", he playfully replied, petting her head. She giggled, closing the box.

"Looks really fun! Thank you, Andy!"

"... Andy?", he repeated, taking a sip of tea.

"Yeah, Andy! You know, a cute nickname? I first thought of Drias, but it didn't sound right for some reason."

"Andy... Alright, sounds good to me. Since we're apparently at the cutesy nickname stage, I'll call you Cass!", he replied with a little smirk. The librarian drank some of her tea, amused.

"Jokes on you, people already call me that! Well, my best friend Blake does."

"The one from the orphanage, correct?"

She nodded, lightly twirling the tea in her cup.

"A red toad, the kindest person I know. They got adopted at some point, but they kept visiting me. Their dad had actually planned on adopting me as well, we were a package deal.", she said, chuckling, "But he didn't have the funds to raise two children. So I stayed at the orphanage, waiting for my turn. It never came though."

She looked up to him, a sad little smile on her face, "Sorry, here I go rambling again!"

Andrias wasn't very good at comforting people -most of the time he didn't really care- but seeing his little librarian so sad felt wrong. He responded with a little pat on her head, as he'd always do.

"Don't apologize, Cass."

She hugged his thumb, closing her eyes. She loved to cuddle in his hands, it made her feel special, to be held so delicately by a giant.

"Thank you for listening. I think I needed it."

The monarch gently picked her up, bringing her closer to his face. So tiny and cute!

"Don't mention it. Is there something we could do to cheer you up? More tea perhaps?"

"I think... I think I'd like a kiss."

He blinked in surprise. A kiss? This step might have seemed natural to some, but not to him.

"Oh, hum... I mean..."

"Are you scared of a kiss, your Highness ?", Cassidy asked with a playful smirk, "You don't have to be, I've seen you do way dirtier things~"

"I have no idea what you're talking about.", he joked, his cheeks red, "And for the record, I'm not scared of a mere kiss."

"Then do it.", the librarian teased him, her tail wagging.

"Alright, if you insist!"

The king puckered his lips slightly and closed his eyes, his face getting warmer. He really wasn't used to this, it had been a while since he kissed someone, and she was so small. She stood on her tippy toes as she placed her lips on his, enjoying their first kiss. Andrias was being very careful not to crush her with that big head of his. Both of their tails were wagging in excitement. He broke the kiss, looking at her with a flirty grin.

"Say, now that you're feeling better, how about we try out that new toy? I'm eager to hear what delightful sounds you'll make~"

Cassidy's face grew red, her tail wagging even more as she started to unbutton her dress.

"Brilliant idea, my Lord~"

Before she could finish, Andrias touched his forehead, like having a headache.

"Sorry... We'll have to do this another time."

She gave him a disappointed pout, fastening the buttons again.

"Maybe you should get some rest, Andy. Those migraines are getting pretty frequent."

"I will, don't worry.", he replied and gently put her back on the floor, "I'll see you soon."

"Maybe I'll be the one getting you flowers this time!"

He chuckled, lovingly petting her head before leaving the library.

"That would be sweet of you. Take care, Cassidy."

"See ya big guy!", she said with a smile, waving. The king quietly walked back to his bedroom, his hands behind his back. Great, it just had to happen now... Unfortunately, it often did when he was hanging out with her. He stepped into the room, closed the door, and sat on his very large bed before closing his eyes.

"Don't you have better things to do?"

Andrias found himself in a black void, orange glowing eyes opening one after the other. They were all intensely staring at him, whispers echoing all around. That voice was all too familiar.

"I haven't forgotten my mission, father

"I haven't forgotten my mission, father."

"Is this how you want to restore our legacy? By flirting with a plebeian?"

Andrias began to blush, embarrassed. Not only that, but he didn't like Aldrich's tone when talking about Cassidy. Sure, she was just a librarian, a peasant. But she made him smile, she made him laugh. She was his librarian.

"I... I enjoy her company."

The whispers became a bit louder, like concerting with each other, "A nuisance... Waste of time..."

They suddenly stopped, letting Aldrich speak again.

"Focus on our plan, son. You wouldn't want this harlot to get in our way, now would you?"

"She won't, I'll make sure of that."

"Good. Don't disappoint me again."

When Andrias opened his eyes, he was back in his room, greeted by an eerie silence. His gaze fell on the book that was resting on his night table. It was Cassidy's latest recommendation. Cassidy... As weird as it was for him, he liked her too much to push her aside. He loved her enthusiasm for books, her soft blonde hair, her happy smile. But what if his heart got broken once again? What if she got in the way?

No. There was no need to worry. Nothing would get in his way. Not her, not that prophecy. Nothing. She was just a nice little distraction... At least this is what Andrias told himself.
