LONGEST GOODNIGHT

OMNISCIENT
FEBRUARY 19
NEW YORK

Hysteria. The officers of the New York Police Department scattered, going nowhere fast. Doors were locked with no way out and all because of Hayes, the windows couldn't be opened or shot through. They were stuck, packed in a tight space like sardines in a can.

The screaming came immediately after the realization that there was no way out. Hayes had the place proofed in a way that was too advanced, even for himself.

Onika was anxious in the upstairs bathroom, just waiting for the screaming to die down and the next phase to begin. She peeked her head out when silence started to take over, more anxiety rolling around inside her. She couldn't take it. She couldn't be still.

"Told you to stay where you are and you walk your silly ass right to where you're not supposed to be," She heard Chris behind her.

She didn't know how he got inside or who else was inside the house with him. He pushed her back inside the bathroom and followed her.

"What's your problem? What's so hard about listening? Your life worth the insubordination?"

"Chris fuck you. You have every right to be mad but you need to stop talking to me like that. We've had this talk already and you gotta deal with me anyway so it doesn't matter. Leave me alone 'cause when Beyoncé tells you to leave me alone, you're gonna have to."

"You think niggas follow behind Beyoncé?"

"That's what y'all act like."

"That's what August acts like. Ain't no 'leader' in this shit. You must be crazy."

Onika didn't think now was the time to be having this conversation, but she was grateful to be gathering a bit more information on the people she was unintentionally in bed with.

Downstairs, Beyoncé twisted the silencer onto her gun while Robyn and August held fifty officers at gunpoint.

Robyn would never tell Onika, but Beyoncé lived the life that Robyn felt she was meant for. The action, the gore, the freedom, the adrenaline. Robyn felt like she deserved it. Her and August sailed in the same boat, wanting and waiting for a chance to even get close. Their chance was now.

Beyoncé's silence terrified her trembling hostages, further proving her theory that they were absolutely nothing but bitches with badges. Strip them of their weapons and their protection and they were cowards, shaking with fear, begging for their lives.

Their respect for young, human life was non-existent and to Beyoncé, that was the most disgusting trait to have in a being. Her anger had been stirring for days and continued to stir inside her, only growing as she monitored the officers that had violated her family.

Chris walked down the stairs with a scowl on his face because Onika followed right behind him.

"See what I'm saying?" He pointed behind him. "You think I'm wrong Bey, but she don't listen. That's why we in this situation right now."

Beyoncé didn't answer, tired of Chris and Onika's stupid rivalry. Her silent shot rang, leaving Hayes lifeless in a growing pool of his own blood with a bullet piercing the back of his head.
