Caught in the Middle (Ben X Reader)

Chapter 21

"Y/N" Ben yells walking down to the bedroom where I was currently packing. "What did I tell you about taking it easy?"

"I am taking it easy" I say rolling my eyes slightly.

"Uh-huh so you didn't climb on the counter to pack dishes while I was out getting more boxes" Ben says walking into my view.

"Huh. They packed themselve? That's odd" I said looking up at him.

"I told you I would do it" Ben scolds.

"Okay you told me you would do it yesterday and it wasn't done yet so now it's done" I say as I go back to packing.

Ben sigh as he kneels down next to me taking my hands "Baby, packing doesn't need to be done all in one day. You need to take it easy befor you hurt yourself or worse hurt the baby" Ben says looking at me sweetly.

"I know that. I just feel restless sitting around doing nothing." I say looking up at him pleadingly.

"I know. How about this? You, Sam and Bailey can go shopping for the baby after we get back from the appointment and us guys will take care of packing." Ben suggests.

I sigg in defeat and finally nod, "fine" I agree.

"Now let's get you dressed for the day" Ben says helping me off the floor.

I pull the clothes I was wearing off as Ben gets me clothes to put on. Once he hands them to me he kisses me gently. I smile as I pull out of the kiss to get dressed. The knock at the door causes Ben to go answer it.

"She did not!" I hear Woods yell from the living room which meant the team was here. "Y/N Cobalt!" Woods yells for me

"Yes little bro?" I ask as I walk into the living room.

"Did you climb on the counter today?" Woods asks.

"You told him?" I ask turning to Ben.

"Maybe he can knock some sense into you since I can't" Ben says shrugging as he takes the boxes Matt was holding.

I roll my eyes. "I was careful" I say.

"That's not the point" Woods scolds before he starts lecturing me about taking it easy and not doing stupid things that could hurt me or the baby.

I glare at Ben who was trying not to laugh at Woods lecturing me. I just shake my head and leave the living room to go get shoes on. Woods of course follows me so continue to lecture me some more. Once my shoes are on, I look at Woods as he finally finishes talking.

"Are you done?" I ask. Woods nods. "Good, now you listen here. Don't you ever lecture me again mister I thought it would be fun to jump off the counter went i was 5 to see if I could fly."

"Dude really?" Matt asks laughing.

"I was 5." Woods whines.

"He broke his arm in 2 places" I say smiling.

"Not girl Sis" Woods says.

"Next time don't lecture me or team up against me with my Husband" I say before flashing a warning glare at Ben. Ben puts his hands up in surrender. "Anyway, Ben and I have to get going. Can you guys just start on the living room and finish the kitchen?"

The team nods allowing Ben and I to head to our apartment. Ben drove so I could take a small nap in the car. Once we were at our appointment, a nurse let us into a room where she had me lay down on a table.

"Hello I’m Nurse Davis. I will give you your exam today. You guys must be Mr. and Mrs. Cobalt. Are you guys excited to see your little one" The nurse asks.

"Yes super excited" I say smiling.

"Awesome. I’m going to need you to lift up your shirt so I can feel your belly a bit and then we will take a look at your baby." The nurse says. I lift my shirt up so she could press on my belly gently. "You're uterus seems to be expanding nicely. Now the gel I have put on your belly is quiet cold." She says as she preps the machine in front of her.

Once everything was ready she puts the cold gel on my belly before pressing a device on my belly. Ben grabs my hand tightly as the nurse turns the machine towards us. It took a minute for the nurse to find our baby since he was hiding towards the back of my uterus.

"Ah there they are" the nurse says excitedly once she finds them. "They were just hiding from the camera." I smile at her joke as she points out our baby on the screen. "They look pretty healthy from what I can see. Good growth and nice strong heart rate."

I look over to Ben to see he was staring at the screen with so much love in his eyes. I couldn't help but smile seeing this. I turn back towards screen.

"How far along would you say I am?" I ask.

"From the size of the baby, I would say about a month and a week." The nurse answers. "I'm going to take a few pictures for our record. Would you like me to print you a few out to take home?"

"Yes please" I say.

"Alright sounds good. I'm gonna get those printed out for you. I will also bring you a pamphlet of foods and drinks you should avoid over the next 8 months as well all some other resources about the changes you are going to notice with growing a baby." The nurse explains before she leaves.

"We got to see our baby!" Ben says excitedly. I laugh as since this was the first time he spoke during the whole appointment. He move my hands so he could press kisses into my clothes covered belly.

The nurse walks back in holding a folder and hands it to me. "Here are these. Just go to the check out table and they will get you set up with you next appointment at the 14-18 week mark."

"14-18 weeks. Thats when we can know the gender correct?" I asked.

"That is correct. I can't wait to see you guys again" The nurse says before she leaves.

Ben and I head out of the building after scheduling the next appointment. I was excited to show everyone the sonogram we had of our baby. The nurse was nice enough to give us 3 copies. One for Ben and I to keep, one to give to Sam for the scrapbook she's making with Bailey and one for Mom.

Once we arrived home, Woods was the first to meet us at the door asking about the baby. I laugh at his enthusiasm as I gathered everyone to tell them how it went.

"Well?" Woods asks plopping down next to me on the couch once everyone was in the living room.

"Well the baby is healthy and is growing well and" I say pulling out one of the Sonograms.

"Oh my god" Woods says taking it from me. "Look at them! They are so tiny!"

I laugh as I hand Sam her copy. She shows Bailey.

"Well of course they are tiny" Matt says looking over Woods shoulder.

"They said I get to find out the gender next appointment" I say.

"That's great!" Sam says.

I was happy to have such supportive friends. I look towards Ben who was smiling at the crew gushing over our little one. His eyes meet mine and I swear I saw his thoughts. His world was more than complete. He had me, our friends and now our baby.

Matt, Woods and Ben soon got around to moving boxes as me and the girls left to go baby shopping for gender neutral items for now. I couldn't be happier as their arms linked with mine pulling me into the baby section at Target.

I called my mom to have her come join the girls and I. See almost didnt let me finish before she agreed. She cried seeing the picture of her grandbaby for the first time and cried even more when i told her the picture was her copy to keep. My mom and the girls immediately started planning a baby shower for me and a potential gener reveal during it. I helped plan as I laughed at Sam's crazy pintrest ideas for the shower. Maybe I could take it easy for a while and let the people around me help me.
