finding solace in words

10/14/21
floating through my ears as I float through the halls.
my mind is bubbling with thoughts, but my face is a stone wall.
even if you were a mindreader, you still couldn't understand.
sung and written words ease my isolation, carrying me away from this insufficient reality.
don't blame yourself, I say, "It's not you, it's me".
so I push you away, making room for my most reliable friend.
words are infinite, people are not.
