Tainted By Love

1. Sara Lakes

Rain slashed across the car windscreen as they sped down the A16. First day of school, a new school and the rain reflected the mood he portrayed.

Sara: C'mon Syril, its school not the end of the world.
Syril: may as well be.

Sara roller her eyes while her husband tried to calm her down, taking her hand in an act of reassurance. Sara was a young mum, and her stubborn son hadn't made things easy. Chocolate waves fell over her shoulders as emerald stones peered onto the road. She thought she could make it as an athlete, that was until she got pregnant.

Age 16 and pregnant, studies had become increasingly difficult. She eventually had to drop school and become a full time mother. Not that her son was difficult, just stubborn, but they cherished each other.

Moving to th north side of Britain was a big thing for Sara, not that she'd let it show, but she was torn by leaving her full world behind. Big cities and pollution was all she'd ever known, now surrounded by bushes and trees her heart ached for its home.

Will: cheer up you two, it's gonna be just fine. Its school Syril, the best one at that. You should count yourself lucky.
Sara: thanks darling.
Syril: I just don't have a good feeling about this, any of this.
Will: ah first day nerves, they're normal son. At least you don't have to worry about learning to talk to girls.

Sara elbowed her husband and shot him a glare. She knew Syril had never been into girls. In fact she wouldn't have been surprised if he retorted with "well I'm gay anyway" at that exact moment.

Syril: you know I'm not interested in dating, dad.
Will: eh, it was worth a shot. Just don't worry about anything. I'm sure there are plenty of other young lads in the same boat as you.

Will may have just been trying to lighten his sons mood, but he wasn't exactly wrong.
