Cory Connor slowly opened his eyes as he got up from his bed. Dust quietly fell from the ceiling as the sun rays bounced off the walls, hitting the surface of his soft skin. After letting out a loud and long enough yawn, he silently got up from his bed and slowly made his way to the windows. As he opened the windows, an exodus of the warm breeze of Alola hit his face; causing a small gin to form while his gaze was out to the ocean.
"Todays the day," the boy said to himself with a gleeful smile. He watched the waves crash into the sandy beaches of Melemele Island while multiple blue and white birds flew overhead. "Today is my first day of Pokemon school."
"Cory!" The boy heard someone shout his name, causing him to turn his attention towards the entrance of his room. Standing in the middle of the doorway was a girl who seemed to be a few years younger than him. Her brunette hair flowed down from the top of her head like a majestic waterfall like the ones in Eternal Forest. Like her sibling, she had two emerald eyes that sparkled under the Alolan sun rays like crystals in the deepest caves of Hoen. The girl frowned. "Are you ready for school? Mom has been trying to wake you up for the last fifteen minutes," his little sister announced while crossing her arms in disappointment. "Can't you please get your life together for once? Honestly, I feel like I'm the older one." The boy let out a grisly scowl as he watched the younger sibling exit the room, leaving the door behind her. Cory shook his head and quickly changed out of his pjs; put on a dark navy blue jacket with midnight black pants that matched his hair, and left his room with a smile on his face. He made his way down the stairs and saw his loving mother and his tomboyish sister getting ready for breakfast.
"Look who finally showed up," the young girl declared as she walked over to her brother, handing the boy some silverware. "It was your turn to empty the dishwasher yesterday."
"Oh, my fault..."
"I know it's your fault," she remarked, interrupting her older sibling. "Why are you always so loose minded?"
"Be nice to your brother Ele. He was probably too excited to sleep because it's his first day of school," their mother said from the kitchen sink as the sound of running water ran down the dirty dishes. Cory smirked and stuck his tongue out, forcing a growl out of the younger sibling. "But my little boy is growing up too fast. It was only yesterday when you were still crawling around in your diapers...,"
"MOM! Can you please stop embarrassing me?!?" Cory shouted, which caused a few snickers to escape out of Ele's mouth. "Mom, I'm ten years old now. Please don't say any of those in front of my friends..."
"That's a pretty funny joke Cory," he heard his sister blurt out while taking a seat at the small kitchen counter. The boy rolled his eyes as he made his way to the counter and grabbed a piece of buttered toast that was smothered in jam.
"Ele, could you pass me another piece of toast?" Cory asked as while pointing at the pile of golden toasted beard that were centimeters away from the girl.
"Doesn't your school start soon?" she asked. The boy then directed his attention towards the clock, causing his eyes to widen. Leaning over the counter he grabbed a couple of sliced and stuffed his face with a dry toast after dashing out of his seat.
"Bye guys, see you later!" Cory yelled as he exited through the door, making his family sigh.
"Man," Ele said with a sigh as she took a mouse-like bite of her breakfast. "Will he ever grow up?" Her mother giggled at her question and she sat down beside her beloved daughter.
"Maybe, maybe not," she replied. She took a sip of her coffee and smiled. "Who knows for sure."
