Chapter 1 - Awakening

In this strange place it was cold and dark. Surrounded by a void of darkness where nothing and no one existed. Time moved on everywhere but here. Both the good and bad memories were now far from reach.

A lone, young child was forced to wander around the vast darkness searching desperately for the love and warmth they deserved. The child wandered around the dark space with a mind as blank as a unused canvas.

Somewhere in the darkness a voice drifted through the child's ears, a deep yet familiar voice, "Can you hear me?"

The coldness the child felt was instantly replaced as warmth washed over her. The voice in the darkness spoke up once more, "Wake up, wake up Naomi!"

The glass doors of a hybernation capsule parted while exposing the child to the world. The girl slowly opened her eyes and gazed a few moments at the cloudy  skies above. She then sat up and moved her legs over the side of the capsule and rested her feet on the cold, stoney ground which had some patches of moss growing. The girl scanned the area she woke up in and found that she was in a dark and wet alley well hidden behind large city buildings.

Soon her gaze fell upon a robotic dog which seemed to stare at her from the shadows just up ahead. She watched as the dog slowly backed up and in a single motion, turned and run the opposite way leaving both the girl and the wet alley behind. Feeling as if she saw and knew the dog before the girl got up and followed the direction in which the dog had ran.

The child exited the alley and found herself in the centre of a busy and cheerful city. She looked around for the dog as she stood in one place, but a sad expression became present on her face as she could not seem to spot the robot hound. As she scanned over the area once more her eyes met with a huge steel sign with engraved writing on it a distance ahead. The child wandered closer to get a better look at the engraved writing and read the name of the city in a questionable way, "Metro City?"

Her gaze then wandered to the left as heard the joyful laughter of happy children playing in the streets and saw wide smiles plastered on the faces of children who walked hand in hand with their parents and older siblings.

The child could not help but feel lonely as she watched the happy, younger, children. A gentle breeze blew past the child as her eyes widened. She remembered someone had given her a name, Naomi, she was twelve years of age and the city she now stood in was the same city she was born and raised in.

An odd feeling began to settle over the child as she remembered something else.

Something she could not make sense of.
