It's my birthday 🥳🎉🎂 happy birthday to me
========================Scarlett POV
I met Chris Evans on the first day of high school art class. Even at thirteen he knew exactly who he was. The boy already had style at that time. And didn't mind looking different. He wanted to look different, wanted to be who he really was. I admired him right away.
At sixteen when my first boyfriend broke up with me to go out with Zoe Saldana because I wouldn't let him progress to stage three, it was on Chris' shoulders that I cried. He hugged me and said that Zoe was a bitch. When I was nineteen, I drank so much I could barely walk, and Chris picked me up at the bar. He held my hair while I threw up and then took me to his house and tucked me into his bed to sleep. At twenty-four when my father died at just fifty-eight he held my hand while we worked out the funeral details and slept with me for two days straight holding me until the last tear fell. Chris Evans is the best friend.
- I love that blue dress. Suits you.- He does so well for my self-esteem.
- Thanks.- I stand on tiptoe and kiss his cheek.- Colin bought it for me.- I give a forced smile knowing what his reaction will be.
Chris frowns.
- On second thought, I think the dress isn't even that pretty.- he teases. I've been wondering lately what if I have heard his opinion of Colin a year ago.
Chris surveys the gym which is filled with an assortment of muscular men and women of all shapes and sizes as usual.
- Tell me again why I don't come pick you up at work every day? - He sighs looking around like a hungry lumberjack at a feast.
- Because you hate fights.- I smile and show the biggest obstacle.- and Colin.
- Speaking of the devil....- Chris mutters. I turn and see Colin approaching.
- Chris.- he gives a curt nod to Chris. The two have a deep dislike for each other. But Colin has always known that Chris is fundamental to me so he keeps his distance and controls himself. Well, more or less.
-Colin- Chris mimics the nod, but Colin doesn't even realize he's being teased.
-Call me when you get home.- Colin orders dryly.
- I'll probably be late.
- It doesn't matter.- Colin nods to Chris and tries to kiss me on the mouth before walking away. I turn around in time and the kiss hits the corner of my mouth. Luckily Colin doesn't see the greeting Chris gives him.
- Didn't you dump him? Why does he still kiss you?- Chris asks sincerely.
I thoughtfully bite my bottom lip.
- He's not accepting our breakup.
- What does that mean? He has no option to accept it or not. You dumped him. He was discarded. It's actually quite simple.
- It's a long story.
- We have all night. Can't wait to hear.
Before he starts the moral lesson I know he's about to give, I grab my bag.
- I'm going to the bathroom to touch up my makeup. You can stay here enjoying the attractions.- I say and go to the back of the gym.
A few minutes later I come back from the bathroom to find Chris casually leaning over the front desk, ankles crossed and elbows supporting his weight. With a sly little smile and gleaming eyes I would recognize that expression anywhere. He is flirting with someone. I just hope it's not one of those muscular gym tacts that turn violent when they realize another man is flirting with them.
