Scarlett POVNot even Chris can make me laugh in these last two days.
I go to work, I spend twelve hours a day
trying to catch up and come back home
to share a bowl of Ben & Jerry with my best friend. I am fountain of fun. When the last members got away, I lock the door and sit down in the reception desk to draw. It's the only thing that brings me some peace. Although it's probably not much healthy because the only thing I want to draw is Y/N.
I get lost sketching the lines of her jaw, drawing it from memory. I close my eyes and imagine her face, reminding me of the way i felt when I ran my hand over her skin the morning after the night we spent
exploring each other's bodies. A light knock on the door wakes me up from my daydreams. For a second I wonder if my memory is playing tricks on me, because suddenly standing some meters away, on the other side of the glass door, there is the same woman, in flesh and bone. My heart accelerates in my chest and I feel more alive than I've felt in the last few weeks. I give some steps towards the door, although my feet feel heavy, and put one on in front of the other is like trying
walk in a deep pool.I unlock the door and she opens it quietly.
- Can I enter?
I blink a few times to wake up.
- Yup. Of course. Sorry, is that you took me by surprise.
I lock the door behind her and turn around. She's right here, so close that i could touch her. It's all I want to do but
I don't do it. My body is drawn to
her by a surreal impulse. It's a test of resistance to just keep my hands in the side of my body.- How are you? - I ask, referring to her ribs.
- Better now. - Her eyes are so full of feelings that I almost believe it's me who makes her feel like that. Then I remember the girlfriend who was taking care of her in the presidential suit and I swallow my cravings. I go back behind the counter to put a safe distance between us.
- I'm glad to hear you had someone to take care of you.
She nods her head.
- Turns out he was a really nice guy.
- Your brother?
- Yup. He and Natalie took care of me for a few days. The doctor prescribed me painkillers that really knocked me out.
Natalie. Does Y/N really needs to talk about her? How insensitive can she be?
- What can I do for you Y/N?
My posture changes. My body doesn't know that this woman doesn't belongs to me anymore, but my brain knows. In fact, I'm even glad she did mentioned her because it has the effect to throw a bucket of ice water on my face, waking me up from my stupor.
She frowns, noticing the difference. The temperature has just dropped ten degrees it would be hard not to notice.
- Did I say something wrong?
- No. Why do you think that? - I say with
indisputable sarcasm in my voice.- What's going on, Scarlett? - She came closer to the counter.
— Nothing, Y/N. What did you say that
you wanted? I prefer to talk about what
whoever brought you here. I really have no interest in talking about your little suite presidential party with your girlfriend.- My girlfriend? what are you talking about?
— Natalie. I went to reception to find out
how were you and they told me that your girlfriend had done your check-out and taken you to her penthouse.
