Ricky swung the gate to his house open. it was built to look like that of the Georgian era, with a few vines growing down its sides and lights on, in four of its rooms. It was now half past nine and Rick had taken a bus home. He lived in in a small town on the outskirts of the city, Newland.
He turned the doors metal handle and walked in. And as he entered the kitchen in search for food his mother and father sat at the table.
"What going on?" Rick asked, confused.
"Don't worry son, you're not in trouble. We've sent requests to Kentucky, Duke and Kansas" his Dad replied, happily.
"Oh my goodnes" Ricky said, startled "Thank you so much, you won't regret it, I will not let you down"
"We know you won't but keep working until you go. But they may not accept"
When Ricky got to school, people where constantly coming up to him and praising him for his shot last week.
He finally managed to escape dozens of his new found admirers and went to find John. He was sitting on a bench spinning a basketball on his finger.
"Sorry about what happened after the game" Ricky said.
"It's okay. Doesn't matter any more" John said with a cheery tone.
"I want you to come to college with me" Ricky asked, happy that their friendship was now the same at it had been.
"I suppose I can try, I probably won't get in though" John replied, the ball falling off his finger.
"You will! Bersides, It's worth a try" Rick said with strong enthusiasm.
Jonathan came from a fairly weathly family. They wouldn't mind weather he wanted to be a basketball player or a bin man. After all, he did have 6 elder siblings who where now adults, perhaps they didn't care?
