Rick woke finding himself in a hospital. A doctor realised he was awake and rushed over to see him. He had dark hair and dark green eyes, like Coach Johnson.
"Hello, I'm doctor Cuningham" he announced, "I'm afraid to inform you that you've broken your wrist, arm and back"
Ricky was devistated. He looked down and saw plaster cast over many of his limbs, he tried to move and let out an agonizing groan. He knew now that the doctor was telling the truth.
"How will I compete like this?" Ricky asked, confused and angry.
"Well" the doctor sighed "get plenty of rest, and you should be back to normal, soon"
"You hesitated" Rick replied.
"At least six to ten months or... possibly a year.
"WHAT?!" Ricky screamed.
"I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do but tell you to rest and try to relax" at this, doctor Cuningham walked away. Rick sulked, how on earth was he going to show off to the scouts if he couldn't walk let alone play basketball.
The day grew older and thoughts spiraled through Ricky's mind. He had worked so hard to make his parents proud, to make his friends proud, to make Jonathan proud. How, after what happened, would he make it to the big stage? But now he was tired and felt himself drifting to sleep.
