Swiftclaw and Sootfur gently nudged Longtail up the mountain as the cold blew around them.
"I can't even describe how painful this is!" Longtail muttered.

Swiftclaw snorted. "We're almost at our new home. I trust Brambleclaw."

"I do too," Sootfur assured the older tom.

"I do like the feeling of the wind on my whiskers,"  Longtail admitted.

"We're here!" A voice yowled from ahead.

Could It be true? Swiftclaw thought. He twitched his whiskers.

"Our new home," Longtail huffed.

"Lighten up, will you? It's a fresh start for everyone." Sootfur grunted.

"Well said," Swiftclaw agreed. Perhaps this could be just what they needed.

Swiftclaw stretched out in the sun and rolled over and Leafpaw sat next to him.

"It's a shame we don't have a camp yet, this territory is amazing!" Leafpaw mewed.

"Yeah. It's got so much prey- even in leaf-bare!" Swiftclaw commented. "I don't see one problem with this place."

"Other than no connection to StarClan," Leafpaw murmured softly.

Swiftclaw had forgotten about that. The moonstone was their connection to StarClan. How would they contact them now?

"I'm sure they'll be a way," Swiftclaw assured her.

Leafpaw nodded. "I better go help Cinderpelt." As she bolted off, Swiftclaw sat in silence. He glanced over at the cats from other clans.

Weirdos, he thought to himself with a huff of amusement. RiverClan cats smelt gross. Like rotten prey.

"Seems to me that someone's a little lost," A voice taunted. Swiftclaw looked up.

"Hawkfrost. What do you want?" Swiftclaw glared at the brown tom.

"Me? Oh, nothing. But I'm positive you'll want something." Hawkfrost purred.

"And what is that?" Swiftclaw felt a growl rising in his throat.

"Just watch. You'll see." Hawkfrost narrowed his blue eyes and slowly padded off.

He's just being creepy. Right?

"Why was that piece of Thistle-fluff over here?" A raspy voice grunted.

"Hello, Longtail." Swiftclaw greeted him warmly.

"Hi," Longtail glared at him and whipped him in the face with his tail.

"Hey! What was that for?"

"I might be blind but I'm not stupid!" Longtail snapped.

"What are you meowing about?" Swiftclaw hissed.

"You were talking to that- that- cruel mouse-heart!" Longtail lashed his tail angrily.

"He came over to me," Swiftclaw grunted. "And we both don't even know him!"

"I know far more about him than you do," Longtail hissed. "He's the son of Tigerstar. Not to mention a rogue too. He cannot be trusted. Look how cruel and cunning he seems."

"Brambleclaw is also the son of Tigerstar!" Swiftclaw bared his fangs at the blind tom. "He's doing just fine and is a good cat."

"His mother was a loyal clan cat and influenced him. We can't trust cats outside of the clans." Longtail insisted. He flexed his claws.
