"Where did you go? Did you try to run away darlin? There will be serious consequences.""No I didn't! I swear. The doorbell rang, I answered the door."
"Hm. Don't do that again. You don't go outside without me. You don't even go to another room without me."
"Why?"
"You don't get to ask why. Now go to the kitchen and make us something to eat." I nod. As I turn to leave, he grabs me and yanks me to him. Our bodies collide, he holds me firm and kisses me again. This time I played along. Better safe than sorry. I'll get my chance.
I walk into the kitchen and start going through the cupboards and the fridge. I make a decent meal. Unfortunately I didn't find anything that I could use to my advantage to make him sick or even kill him. Well even if I did, he was watching me the whole time. This won't be easy.
We sit down and eat in silence. Then he breaks the silence. Why? Why did he have to start talking? I could do without hearing his voice.
"I've found Brian. I'll take him tonight. We have to get going if we want to get home." I choke on my food.
"I guess you're finished with your food. Come let me show you." He gets up and pulls me up by my arm.
"Where are we going?" I ask.
"I'm going to show you where I've found Brian." He yanks me by the arm, he opens the front door and we head down the road.
We walked up to a church. He yanks me up the stairs. "Don't try anything. Or someone might end up sliced and diced. You understand me?"
I look at him and nod. What else can I do. I don't want more people dying.
We walk inside the church and see some nuns and a priest at the front near the confessional booth.
"Do you think I should confess to the priest what I've done? And what I'll do again darlin?" He smiles that evil toxic smile. I don't answer him. He's sick and twisted.
He goes into the confessional booth and the priest joins him in the next booth. He's going to tell the priest everything, knowing that the priest can't do anything to help little Brian. I look over to the nuns, I see movement behind them. It's little Brian. I got an idea.
I walk over to the nuns and ask if it would be okay if I spoke to Brian. They don't have a problem with it.
"Hi. I'm Michelle. What's your name?"
He looks at me then at the nuns. They give him reassuring smiles and nods, conveying to him that it's okay that he speaks with me.
"My name is Brian."
"Hi Brian, pleased to meet you. Listen, can I ask you something?" I smile at him, trying my best to stay calm.
"Okay."
"Can you go ask your mommy if she can go over to the sheriff's station? I want her to take you with her over there and stay there. Tell the officers that there's a man in town that's very bad, he wants to hurt little kids. I want to make sure you are safe." He looks at me like he's seen a ghost.
I guess this is sounding very strange to him. He runs to the nuns screaming. O shit. I didn't really think this through. Gideon appears from the confessional booth, looking very angry. He grabs Brian by the arm and then tosses him over his shoulder. The nuns start screaming and trying to pull Brian from Gideon. He slaps them, and they fall to the floor. Next he stabs them both, fast and with medical accuracy. They didn't stand a chance.
As they lay there bleeding out, the priest runs over to help them. He can't stop the bleeding. Then Gideon cuts his throat too. He wipes the blood on his clothes and puts the knife away.
Brian is screaming and Gideon takes him down, he chokes him till he's unconscious.
"You've caused this. You are responsible for three more deaths. Are you happy now darlin?" He glares at me. He grabs me by the arm and yanks me along with him. We walk fast, almost jogging home. No one seems to take notice, we enter via the back yard and back door.
He places Brian on the table. "Go get ready for the sacrifice. This time, it better work."
He turns away and starts cleaning his hands at the sink. I walk away, when I reach the front door I make a split decision. I head up the stairs and have a look in the closets upstairs for any kind of weapon I could use. I found a little switchblade in one of the drawers. I take it. I'll have to surprise him.
I go back down the stairs. I pause at the front door. I put my hand on the handle, I opened it fast. As the door swings open, Gideon comes through, but his momentum is carrying him, he can't stop in time. My little blade goes deep in his throat, I get such a fright that my hand pulls the knife. Effectively slicing through his throat, nicking the carotid artery, as his blood starts to spray over us. I pull my blade out and shove his body out the door. He stumbles and falls down the porch steps. He lays there trying to put his hands on the wound, it won't help.
One down...
