A/N: I wrote this a few years ago in memory of an amazing woman, and even though she is gone now and was never related by blood, she will always be in my heart, mind, soul, and family. I love you Aunt Rhonda <3 See you someday

Please listen to the song on the side, it will forever hold the place in my heart as my favorite.

Elegy for Aunt Rhonda

You were once a seed,

A seed nurtured by sunlight and water,

That grew into a sapling, then tree.

A purple lilac tree, so sweet and beautiful.

On the rainiest days,

With the sky looking bruised,

Your smile lit up the world

And your laugh contended with thunder.

When I was little, like a second mother,

You would hold my tiny hands,

And we’d dance in circles,

While you sang of the rainbow in my hair.

You truly were an amazing tree,

Being in bloom all year long.

Even in the darkest night of the coldest winter,

You managed to keep your purple blossoms.

I only saw you as a tree,

Not a seed, nor old growth,

For sickness caught you unawares

And you fell too soon.

Twelve years is too short a time

To have known you,

But I am thankful nonetheless.

I will always love you.
