Boys and Girls
Girl With Scarlet-Smeared Lips has black stains creased under damp eyes, while she drags her ethereal chains up the stairs. Beneath the weight of her sorrow, her spindly heel snaps. Lurching, books tumble from her arms.
Boy With Blue-Streaked Curls grasps her elbow and reaches for the books.
“Thanks”. Her eyes smile.
