FLORENCE DIDN'T EVEN recognize her brother when she first saw him. it hadn't even been a year since she saw him last but he looked much older. his hair was shorter as well.

she would have thought seeing her brother for the first time in months would've made her happy, but in reality, she was angry.

she noticed his phone in his hand. the same phone he had months ago. she knew he was getting all her texts and calls. he just chose not to answer them.

after seeing him, she realized how much she didn't want to see him. she was actually happy when he didn't realize she was there, and left without noticing her.

"you ready to go?" sam asked, grabbing a bag of chips. she had t seemed to notice robby being there just seconds before.

"yeah," florence said, grabbing one more bag of chips to bring to anthony.

it was something the two of them did. anytime they went to the store they would but each other a bag of chips or something.

"that'll be $7.95," the cashier said, chewing her gum loudly.

"thanks," sam said giving her a smile.

earlier, after leaving the dojo, they talked a lot. but now, on their car ride back, it was silent for almost the whole ride.

"i got you chips," florence said to anthony, throwing the bag at him, hitting him in the face.

"you went to the store?" anthony asked, opening the bag.

"yeah," she said, sitting down next to him, "i went with sam after your dad got mad at you." she paused for a second before saying, "i saw robby when i was there."

"really?" anthony said, "did you talk to him."

"no, i thought i would want to, but seeing him made me mad," she wasn't sure why she was telling him this, she rarely tells anyone personal things about herself. "i mean, he never answers my calls or texts, but i noticed he had his phone on him."

"i'm sure he'll reach out soon," anthony said, grabbing florence's hand. "want to watch a show?" he changed the subject, realizing she didn't seem to want to talk about robby anymore.

"brooklyn 99?" she said, it was a show the two of them had been watching together.

he found his computer and turned it on for the two of them. they laughed and talked about the show all night. it was nice.

the next day at school was mostly uneventful. she had a math test, which was relatively easy and she was sure she did well on.

after math, she had choir. she liked that class a lot. she always loved singing. she hated her teacher though. she always picked out terrible music for their concerts.

after that, she had a free period. she used pet of it to track down kenny. the two of them were in a group together for a social studies project and needed to figure out who was doing what.

"i was thinking, you could do the research then i could write the essay for it," kenny suggested when she found him in the hallway.

florence was relieved when he said this. she was terrible at writing essays, but she could easily do research. "great," she said with a smile before waking back to her classroom.

although her job in the project was to do research, she barely did any. her and jenny spent most of the time talking about basically anything. boys, girls, the annoying people in their classes.

they talked up until it was time to go to the last class of the day, science. florence didn't mind science, it was actually one of her best classes.

when she got to class, she noticed anthony wasn't there. she found this strange, he had taken the bus with her earlier this morning.

the two were currently working on a project and it would be difficult to do it alone, but she managed until the end of the day.

"florence," her teacher called to her before she left class. "would you mind giving anthony his homework?"

"yeah, sure," florence said, taking the papers, "where is he?"

"he got suspended," he told her.

"he did?" florence responded, wondering what he did.

"i thought you knew, he was caught bullying kenny," he explained to her.

"thanks for letting me know," she said, "i'll give this to him."

how couldn't she have known about this? it was only a matter of time before he was caught. him and his friends had been terrible towards keene since he moved here. this was such a typical thing for him to do.

it was so. fucking. typical.
