For the next few hours while she was at school she tried to focus. The last thing she wanted was getting so distracted by everything that she would loose her focus in school.

She ignored Kaya's messages because she knew that if she would tell her a single thing about today, her phone wouldn't stand still until her best friend knew the rest of it.

Which was understandable, but the last place where Elaine wanted to talk about Mitch was in school. 

She called Kaya as soon as she left the school building, hoping no teacher would see her phoning on the schoolyard, since there was a no-phone rule, which by the way no one payed attention to.

„Oh my god where have you been?", was the first thing she heard. It was so loud that Elaine had to take her phone a bit away from her ear.

„I've been dying to know what happened, and you don't send me a single text the whole day?!", her best friend complained. „The only excuse I would give is when you made out with Mr. Rhodes", she joked and Elaine laughed.

Mr. Rhodes was their geography teacher and not only hot as fuck but also single and in his twenty's, so they always joked about making out with him.

„Sadly I don't have a excuse except that I didn't wanted to tell you everything per text. I swear I called you the second I stepped out of the building", she defended herself while walking to the bus station, which was 5 minutes away from school.

„I want to hear everything", Kaya said and Elaine laughed as she heard that a bag of chips was getting opened.

„Only if you promise me that you're not gonna kill me", she said and twisted her face guiltily.

„What did you do??", Kaya asked with her mouth full of chips.

„I may have accepted Mitch's apology.", she admitted...But I swear I didn't say like >Yeah don't worry everything's okay<, he just apologized so genuine I swear you would have done the same", she added before Kaya could say anything.

„If Mitch is not extremely hot, like so hot that it'll make up for his other problems, THEN I'm gonna kill you", Kaya said.

„You can convince yourself next week", Elaine grinned.

„Not next week, tomorrow", Kaya corrected her.

„Didn't you say you're not feeling good enough to come to school this week?", she asked.

„I did but I'm too curious now. I'm not gonna let another day pass of you not calling me and me sitting on my bed watching the pilot of vampire diaries over and over", she said and her voice dripped of self-pity.

„I mean, if you don't caugh everyone in the face I guess nobody will say anything. And I"-, she stopped her sentence.

„Hello?", Kaya asked.

„Fuck, Ethan is waiting for the bus too", Elaine said.

One year of almost not meeting him and if, she always had the change to avoid him and then seeing him three times in a row. She hated her life sometimes.

„I'm gonna wait for the next bus", she said and stopped. „I'm definitely not in the mood to talk to him."

„No, you're definitely not gonna wait, just so this asshole can take the bus", Kaya disagreed.
„Just don't give him a reason to talk to you and don't sit on a place next to him and you'll be good."

Elaine sighted and continued walking, trying to seem like she didn't notice him as she stopped a few meters next to him. She saw that he side-eyed her, but she continued talking with Kaya about irrelevant things because her best friend luckily was smart enough not to talk about Ethan while he was standing next to her.
