"Why won't this damn door open!" I cried wiping my teary eyes while shoving the door handle back and forth in hopes it would open.

"You cannot go inside Lydia. The doctors are currently working on him." Viola explained.

The tears streamed down my face as I tried hard to pull the door open. I didn't care about what Viola had to say. Once I was there beside Valentino everything would be ok.

I tirelessly and weakly tried for the last time in pulling the door open but failed.

"Valentino will be just fine." Viola hugged me.

I don't know how Viola could be so calm with knowing her only child was battling for his life.

I reciprocated her gesture with a tight hug of my own. I really did need it.

I decided to patiently wait for any sign of the door opening. Isabella kept kicking at my distress making things even worse.

It was about an hour later finally the door opened and doctor Sofia and Doctor Carlos with a few other doctors came out of the room.

"You can go inside now and see him but..." I didn't wait to hear what doctor Carlos had to say as I immediately barged into the room.

The sight of seeing Valentino hooked on tubes while unconscious made my heart drop.

His body didn't seem to have any bruises to it but yet he was wired. I immediately went next to him to grasp him to my chest.

I don't know if I'd ever get used to seeing Valentino this lifeless. Maybe quite but never lifeless.

"Valentino." I shook him to which he did not respond.

"Valentino is currently in a coma. Sergio had previously stated that he suffered a head concussion." Doctor Sofia explained.

"A comma?! And when will he be out?!" I questioned almost having a heart attack.

"We're currently not sure when but we'll be able to determine better when the CT scan results are conclusive." She further added.

"A CT scans?" Viola questioned.

"Yes, a CT scan is the test of choice to evaluate for the four types of intracranial hemorrhage. Subdural, epidural, intracerebral, or subarachnoid bleeding in the brain, swelling of the brain during the first 24 to 48 hours after injury, or to detect any skull fracture if there is." Doctor Carlos explained, and I gasped pulling Valentino even closer to me.

Brain damage?!

"So, I'll have to wait 24 to 48 hours just to know if something is wrong with my son?!"

"Unfortunately, yes. His head injury does seem to be severe but then again we can be very much wrong, he has been unconscious for the past hour now with no movement at all which is definitely not a good sign." Doctor Sofia added.

"There are also a few other tests we need to run but the devices are currently being acquired since this isn't necessarily a state-of-the-art surgical facility."

I turned towards Valentino feeling his cold skin as if he was completely dead.

"In the meantime, Valentino may benefit from the familiar voices of loved ones, which may help awaken the unconscious brain and speed up recovery." Doctor Sofia said.

"So, you're saying that Valentino can hear us?" Viola queried.

"With coma, he might be able to hear you while he may not."

"And how long do you think he'll stay in this coma for?"

"Typically, a coma does not last more than a few days or couple of weeks. In some rare cases, a person might stay in a coma for several weeks, months or even years. Depending on what caused the person to go into a coma, some patients are able to return to their normal lives after leaving coma."

"Weeks? Months? Years?!"

Some people?!

"Hopefully it'll just be a day or two based on the results." Doctor Sofia exclaimed.

Valentino better wake up this instant. He has a baby he needs to get back to.

"My poor son!" Viola pulled him to her chest.

I held onto his hand a little happy that he was not dead but sad that he was now in a coma.

"Doctor, you have to do everything you can to help him. I'll pay you." I suggested to which they both smiled at me.

I still had a lot of money from which Valentino gave me.

"Thank you for the offer, Lydia but that's not needed. Valentino has already taken care of everything. You see, he always has plans in case of an emergency, but we'll do everything in our power to ensure he'll be ok." Said doctor Carlos.

"Thank you."

"You shouldn't stress or worry too much about Valentino Lydia. Your body is now getting ready to see your bundle of joy out. Raising your pressure is not a good idea. Infact I should do a next check up on you right this instant." Doctor Sofia offered.

"I'm fine." I dismissed her.

Valentino was my main priority at this moment.

"Well, we'll give you two some privacy." They both nodded before leaving.

I held onto Valentino's hand while Viola cradled her son to her chest crying. His hand was cold.

"Valentino you're my only baby! Come back to me now please! You're going to be a father in less than two weeks' time you've got to come back to me." Viola tearfully pleaded to an unconscious Valentino.

"I love so much." She kissed him on the head.

"I love you dearly and if you come back to me, I promise to be the best mother for you." I smiled hearing Viola's words.

She spoke to him as if he had never aged a day in his life after he turned five.

She always did want what's best for him.

I pulled out a few tissues for Viola to blow her nose and wipe her tears after she was finished crying.

"I know you might want to talk to him in private even though he's not awake. I'll be with my husband in our room if you need me." She continued to cry before leaving.

I watched as Viola left the room while closing the door behind her. I got up off the chair and laid down next to Valentino on the bed.

"Valentino you can't leave me to have this baby alone. Isabella and I need you. I have forgiven you for what you did with the exception that it never happens again. I love you Valentino." I cried as I hear the monitor start beating faster.

I then looked to him wondering if he could actually hear me or if something bad was happening to him. This made me anxious; it wasn't beeping fast but just a little more than before.

I kissed his cheeks and then his lips for a few seconds hoping he would hear me or feel me.

Frustrated without him moving or showing any signs at all and staying still I decided to tease him and see if it would work.

"Valentino if you wake up right now, we can have sex." But the machine only went bizarre signaling something was truly wrong.

"You're going to need to leave." Sofia sternly instructed after re-entering the room.

Both doctor and a few others rushed Inside the room.

Seeing that Valentino's life might be in danger this triggered me to cry even more as I was pulled outside the door for the doctors to operate on him.

I felt as though I was losing him.

I stood staring at the door while hoping and praying that Valentino would be ok.

I took this opportunity to find Sergio because I swear on my life that if something was to ever happen to Valentino, I would surely kill my father myself with my own two damn hands.
