"Ellis, please go to sleep" Derek begged after he had carried her to his own bed
"M-ommy!" She cried out
"Shh, don't wake up Zo and Riley please" Derek whispered
"M-M-ommy!" She sobbed
"Do you want some warm milk?" Derek suggested as he brushed his fingers through her hair in a try to make her calm but she shook her head "We'll go see mommy in the morning but now you really need to sleep"
Ellis squirmed and hit Derek with her night devices
"Hey, no hitting, okay?" Derek held her arm from hitting him
Ellis kept sobbing in Derek's arms
...
Around 5am Ellis finally had fallen asleep but an hour later she already woke up again
"D-addy! Up!" Ellis pushed him awake
"Ellie, a bit longer, please" Derek groaned
"M-ommy! See m-ommy!" She tried to push herself up
"Wait, I'll help" He sighed and strapped her out of her braces that kept her limbs safe
Ellis quickly ran out of her parents' bedroom and into the kitchen where she took a seat on her own chair while Derek followed her
"What do you want for breakfast, honey?" He asked
"P-pan-akes" Ellis yelled
"Shh. Not too loud honey" Derek whispered
"H-Hungry" Ellis whined
"Patience" Derek chuckled and started making some to eventually put them on a plate, adding some syrup and cutting them in small pieces before he put her plate in front of her. He then grabbed a cup of coffee and took a seat next to her
"Luf" Ellis smiled as she looked at her dad
"Love you too Ellie" Derek gave her an exhausted smile
"M-ommy?" She asked again
"In a bit" Derek smiled as she started digging in
"Morning" Zola smiled
"Zo!" Ellis jumped up and hugged her sister
"Hi Ellie" Zola hugged her sister back and took a seat next to her
"Morning Zo" Derek kissed her forehead and grabbed some pancakes for her
"M-ommy!" Ellis stood up and pulled at Derek's arm
"In a bit, Ellie" Derek sighed
"Are you going to see mom?" Zola asked Derek as she ate her pancakes
"Yeah. I don't think she'll wanna do anything else" Derek told his oldest daughter as he watched his youngest wiggle on her chair "Ellie, careful so you don't fall"
"M-ommy!" She repeated again
"Yeah.. Let's go get you changed" Derek sighed and abandoned his unfinished cup of coffee and followed her to her room where they picked out an outfit together
...
Derek had parked the car in the parking lot of the hospital. They had stopped on their way to grab some breakfast for Meredith
They were way too early so Derek had taken a long route but Ellis was impatient. She even refused to go see the ferry boats. She was missing her mother and it was very clear
"Out!" Ellis yelled as the car stopped
"Ellis, just wait a minute" Derek chuckled and got out to open her door "You wanna walk?" He asked her
"M-ommy!" She started walking towards the enterance
"Ellie, stop!" Derek called out for her and grabbed her hand "You can't walk around without us in the parking lot, honey"
"S-Sorry"
"Let's go see mommy" He smiled
"Yes!" Ellis giggled as they made their way to Meredith's room. They stopped quickly for hot chocolate milk and some coffee. When they were close to Meredith's room Ellis started whining that she was tired. Derek promised she could lay down with her mom when they arrived at the room
They softly knocked on the door of Meredith's room and quietly entered when they got no response
"Quiet, don't wake up mommy" Derek told her as he saw she was asleep
"M-ommy sleep?" Ellis whispered
"Yes, mommy's asleep. Why don't you lay down with mommy for a bit?" He suggested and helped her lay down next to her mom who unconsciously wrapped her arms around her daughter "Sleep honey" Derek kissed both girls' heads and took a seat on the chair. He started drinking his coffee
Hours passed by before Meredith had woken up
"Der?" Meredith whispered as her arms were wrapped around her daughter
"I'm here" He smiled softly "I brought you breakfast if you want"
"Hmm.. I'd like that" She smiled and carefully sat up but also woke up Ellis in the process
"M-ommy!" Ellis smiled as she saw her mother
"Hi baby" Meredith kissed Ellis' head and grabbed the breakfast Derek had brought her
"Good morning Meredith. Good morning Derek" Teddy smiled as she walked inside
"Morning" they replied
"Hi Ellis. How are you doing?" Teddy smiled
"Kay" She whispered and buried her head in her mother's chest
"Meredith, I need to examine you really quick" Teddy smiled softly
"Oh- Of course!" Meredith smiled
"No!" Ellis didn't let go of Meredith
"Honey, just a minute. Teddy just needs to check on mommy" Derek stood up and explained
"No, no, no!" Ellis complained
"Ellie, please. Teddy's just doing her job" Meredith tried to explain
"Aunt M-Mag-ie!" Ellis screamed
"Hey, why don't you assist me?" Teddy softly suggested to calm down Ellis
"N-o!" Ellis shook her head
The heart monitor that was connected to Meredith showed how stressed out she became
"Mer, it's okay" Derek grabbed her hand as her heart rate kept rising
"Ellis, please" Meredith sighed, ignoring Derek who was begging her to stay calm
"Kay" Ellis pouted and jumped off the bed. She made her way towards the couch on the other side of the room and sat down
"Ellie-" Meredith called out for her daughter, hating that she was angry
"Just let her. I'll go sit with her and warm her up for another movie or a board game. Let Teddy do her job now" Derek said and kissed Meredith's head
Meredith nodded and looked apolitical at Teddy before finally speaking up "I'm really sorry" Meredith quietly said before she looked at her daughter who was wrapped in Derek's arms
