Derek was absolutely exhausted and had fallen asleep in the hospital bed. By the time he woke up he was searching for Meredith's but couldn't find her
"Mer?" He asked in panic
"Shh, it's okay" Meredith smiled from her spot on the couch
"You should be in bed" Derek frowned
"I'm sitting" Meredith softly laughed
"Mer.." Derek groaned and pushed himself up
"I'm feeling okay!" She said sternly before turning back to Ellis who was coloring a picture
"M-ommy!" Ellis giggled as Meredith tickled her
"Ellie-Bell" Meredith laughed
"S-Stop!" Ellis laughed and squirmed
"Stop?" Meredith smirked
"P-Plea-se" Ellis added
Meredith stopped and softly kissed Ellis' forehead
"D-addy!" Ellis stood up and ran towards Derek to show the picture she drew but accidentally ran over the line of Meredith's IV causing it to fly out of her arm causing the blood to drip out of her arm
"Ellis!" Derek gasped
"Shit-" Meredith muttered and applied pressure in a try to make it stop bleeding
"It's okay" Derek quickly helped her
"Watch Ellis. I'll insert it again" Meredith nodded
"I can help you first" He frowned
"Check on her" Meredith said as she heard her daughter whimpering
Mer, we need to bandage that first" Derek sighed
"M-M-Mmmm" Ellis struggled
Meredith ignored her arm and walked towards Ellis. She cupped her daughter's face in her hand and spoke up
"It's okay. Nothing bad happened" She assured her daughter but Ellis didn't seem to really respond
"Ellie, come here honey" Derek tried
"Ellie-Bell. It's all okay" Meredith tried
"M-ommy?" She whimpered from the spot she was hiding
"Let's lay down with mommy" Derek lifted her onto the bed, his back was aching
"It's okay Ellie. It's all okay" Meredith assured the girl "Calm down, maybe we can go for a short walk" Meredith rubbed Ellis' arm
Ellis nodded her head, too exhausted to talk
"Close your eyes. Daddy and I will stay here" Meredith kissed Ellis' forehead
Once Ellis was asleep Derek covered her with a blanket
"Take a nap. When you're both awake we can find you a wheelchair and go outside for a minute
"I can walk!" Meredith protested
"You've been way too active today. Maggie said rest, no exercising, no stress and lots of vegetables" Derek laughed as Meredith was making a face by what he said
...
Derek was pushing Meredith as she was sitting down in a wheelchair he placed the chair next to a bench and helped her sit next to him
"Ellie, you can play if you want" Meredith softly smiled as they sat on a bench that was overlooking the swings
Ellis ran towards the swings and started swinging
Derek placed his hand over Meredith's hand kissed her hand softly
"Thanks. I think all three of us needed this" Meredith sighed
"We did" Derek agreed and pulled her close to his chest
Meredith closed her eyes as her head was resting on her husband's chest. Her hand held on tightly to his shirt as she breathed in his scent
"I'm so thankful for all we got" Derek smiled
"Me too. I just hope it will get a bit better soon" Meredith murmured
"We can go on a holiday once you're cleared. Not too far of course" Derek suggested
"We can also stay at our guest house like we planned at first" He suggested
"But not when it's raining. Ellis can't move that easy around there when there's mud" Meredith sighed
"Only when it's dry and sunny, I know" Derek kissed Meredith's head
"M-ommy! D-addy!" Ellis yelled from her spot on the swing "h-h-elp!"
"Go help her swing, I'm staying here. I'll watch you two have fun" Meredkth smiled as she enjoyed watching her daughter and husband having some fun
Even though Ellis was 'an adult woman' legally they had made sure she was still seen as underaged. That was very important for legal documents, taxes and many more
"Go Ellie!" Meredith laughed from her spot as Ellis was giggling as she was swinging
"Go princess" Derek winked at Meredith
Very quick and short update. I just wanna hear your thoughts on what to do next. How severe should her heart condition be?
